He will be suspended for the first 8 games of the season. However, if he doesn't get into any more trouble with the police and he meets other specified criteria, his suspension may be reduced to 6 games.

What I don't understand:

Tank Johnson and Chris Henry both have recent convictions and they both only get 8 game suspensions. Pacman Jones has no convictions and gets a 16 game suspension.

It really makes no sense at all. I'm don't really think Jones deserves a reduced suspension...I just think Johnson and Henry should be serving one year suspensions as well.

The hypocrisy of Goodell is so annoying. Yeah, I'm a titans fan and have defended Pac to a certain extent in the past, but I think I am being fair in my opinion on this. How can you suspend a guy with no convictions for a year, but give 2 guys with convictions (one of them who just got out of the pokey) half of that punishment. It is absurd

And I like how they said on NFL Live today that the Commish's office isn't concerned with Vick right now because there isn't anything concrete about the dog fighting speculation yet. So, they defend the suspensions already handed down (without convictions on Pac) by using the "tarnishing the image of the league" excuse. But now they are waiting for charges before looking at a big name QB. Hypocrisy at its finest. It isn't like the dog fighting thing is the first blemish Vick has put on the NFL. Ron Mexico, the bottle at the airport, the picture a teenage girl took of him smoking a joint at a party, flipping off fans, and now the dogs. I would safely bet that if it was anyone other than the most overhyped QB in the league, the NFL would at least be looking into it; and probably already handed down a suspension.

and i agree with someone elses post above about not reducing pac's suspension. I don't mind him being suspended for the season, but the other guys deserve far more than 8 games or less.

I think Pacman should be the one getting the 8 game suspension (as well as Vick) and the other two should be the ones getting the 16 games suspension.

I think if Pacman's appeal doesn't reduce his suspension any, he is on very good legal ground for a lawsuit against the NFL.

Pac ,an, Tank and Henry should be gone for the entire season. Add Vick to the list if they find out he's directly connected with his current problems.

johnson can get off with 6 games if he follows all of the commish standards. i just don't know if he can.
