If it's after the clock hit zero it's just a deadball foul, game over. Kinda like the Bama player taking his helmet off when he blocked our FG with Kiffin.

Is taunting after the play a deadbolt foul or is he looking to replay the down?

Just curious... if it's a deadbolt then who cares if you get a bunch of 15 yrders when the game is over.
You can't take a penalty in that situation. It's a lock.

Don’t get me started on that one 15 years later. The blocked kick was still rolling around on the ground when Cody took his helmet off and half the Alabama bench came onto the field. I don’t know that it would’ve been a re-kick but it was ridiculous that nobody flagged it.

It was Alabama. When I watch Alabama I am almost shocked when the refs call a penalty on them. It is ridiculous.

Good grief. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is enforced as a dead ball foul even if it occurs during a live ball situation. So, the result of the play stands and then a penalty is assessed. In the case of Cody removing his helmet, the play resulted in Alabama's possession AND the end of the game. Thus, there was nothing to enforce. Complaining about a lack of a flag for a penalty that would have been utterly meaningless is the sourest of grapes.

And before someone says that taunting is enforced as a live ball penalty: it's a stretch to argue that Cody was taunting anyone. And it's completely irrelevant since the change to the taunting penalty was done before the 2011 season.

The ball was still in the field of play and rolling around.
Just like a punt is is not done until a member of the punt team touches it or the ball comes to a rest. We saw just recently where a punt was still kinda rocking on the ground and a member of the return team picked it up and ran. The punt team was standing around watching it come to a rest.

I’ll bet that’s why I ended the post with:

The replay looks ridiculous with the ball rolling around and players running everywhere.

Agreed. That's why I think it's absurd to complain that a flag wasn't thrown. Of the 22 players and 8 officials on the field, only 3 or 4 were even aware that the ball was still live.

Kiffin really had those boys well drilled and ready for anything. 😄

What a joke..
