Apparently HC Gary Patterson knows more about concussions than his team doctor...

"Patterson berated team physician Dr. Sam Haraldson on the sideline during the Horned Frogs' Sept. 24 game at SMU for concluding that running back Ed Wesley had a concussion and could not return to the game, a story in the American Medical News online reported ....
The game was televised by ESPN and the verbal exchange was shown live. When asked about the incident the Sunday after the game Patterson said, "It's none of your business. As far as I'm concerned [Wesley] was fine 10 minutes after he was hurt."
According to several sources at TCU, Wesley was knocked unconscious for a few seconds. By the time Patterson made it out on the field to check on Wesley he told the coach he felt fine.
A source at TCU said that Haraldson had previously complained to school administrators about Patterson and other incidents, but no action was taken.
The NCAA Executive Committee adopted stringent concussion rules in April. Among the new guidelines: schools are required to have concussion management plans on file which evaluate a baseline for individual athletes when healthy. Those baselines are then used to test an athlete in the event of a possible concussion. The policy asserts that "student-athletes diagnosed with a concussion shall not return to activity for the remainder of that day" and are not allowed to participate in future activity until cleared by proper medical officials.
Former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach was suspended for a bowl game last season after questions arose on how receiver Adam James was treated following a concussion. A Tech athletic trainer said in an affidavit that Leach directed him to move James to a secluded equipment room during practice. Leach was eventually fired for insubordination."

I am finding it hard to believe that this has escaped ESPN (knowing their OBVIOUS concern relating to concussion issues and Head Coaches) or the National Media...And that Patterson has been able to ignore the incident and basically not get called on it....Maybe that's just me...

I'm going to guess that the Cam Newton saga overshadowed this. It seems like all hands were on deck trying to be the first to blow that story up, and then when it failed to, they just stuck with the hot topic.

As for Patterson, that was a less attractive story. Lots of speculation. Lots of work. Little reward.

I can see how it was overlooked.

I guess the reason I find it weird that nobody nationally has really brought it to the forefront is the huge emphasis everybody at all levels of football has put on concussions...And the Mike Leach thing..Seems hypocritical, to say the least, for Patterson to not at least get suspended for the bowl, maybe more...This tells me the NCAA isn't real serious about the whole concussion thing after all...Unless your last names is James or Leach...
