No one's panicking over the fact that the Vols lost a game. It's the trend of losing games that we should win, and especially games we need to win to raise our profile as a potential tourney team, that concerns the fan base. Mostly because it points to the fact that Cuonzo is not as much of a coach as we'd like him to be. He does not have it in his skill set to figure out how to beat determined opponents like Wichita State and even lowly UTEP.

It's college basketball any team can win any night. Do you think that UNC should have lost to Belmont and UAB this year? Look at the NCAA tournament for example. FGCU should not have beaten Georgetown last year, but they did. Sometimes matchups don't favor the team that "should" win. Sometimes players have off games. It isn't like football where the most talented team always wins. They lost to UTEP an awful team, then bounced back and beat too top 100 RPI teams by 10+...beat the same team that beat them previously during their opener and avenged the loss. They are 2-1 on a neutral court which is where the tourney's are played. I'm more worried about how they play there instead of on the road. Just my 2 cents.

I don't disagree with any of this actually. But, you admit, you are panicking, whether it be due to one game or the trend. Honestly, CCM's winning percentage speaks for itself at this juncture.

All I meant was that the entire conference schedule remains. As of now, the season can be salvaged. If UT loses on Wednesday, then, you may panic without my interference.

There is no point in panicking anyway. We have a recurring invitation to the NIT. That's all Hart requires of a basketball coach.

All things being equal. There's one spot left for the big dance tourney, it's between Tennessee and North Carolina. Who you think get's the invite? Tar Heels of course, because they have a tradition of winning.
We cant dick around with 18-20 wins and hope the committee is kind to us. We have to win those games.
This is year three. Stokes is a JR, Maymon is back Barton is here, Hubbs is on campus. This is the year we need to make some noise to begin the return to a winning tradition.

I appreciate your optimism, but the reality is the Vols have left themselves little room for error if they want to make the dance. Here's a scary stat for you , Counzo Martin has yet to win an OOC road game at UT. Hmmm ...

Teams that are well coached win more games against teams that they should be defeated by, than they lose to teams that they should defeat.

I'm not exactly sure what conclusion should be drawn from this, but I am positive that it isn't good.

We don't know what Hart requires in BB because the current UT administration hired Coach Martin and they are going to stick with him regardless. The ones at the top wanted rid of Coach Pearl and he gave them the golden opportunity to do it. Unless we go to the bottom Dave Hart will not call the BB shot.

I couldn't possibly panic over anything that happens to this, or any other, basketball team. I might panic over a family emergency or something on that level, but I don't care enough about something as relatively trivial as a college game to panic if things don't go as expected. But, my expectations for the Vol basketball team haven't been very high since Cuonzo came aboard. He's not the savior that everyone would like him to be and he shows no potential to suddenly become a great coach. Nothing that goes wrong under his leadership could possibly surprise me or result in anything even remotely resembling panic.
