I'm dedicating this thread to all the teams we want to underachieve and/or fail from now until Selection Sunday, that would possibly improve Tennessee's seeding.

Obviously we would want every team Tennessee meets in the SEC tourney to choke when they play us. I am more concerned with teams around the country, that are still playing.

Feel free to add or discuss:

Pitt (out)
Villanova (out)
Purdue
West Virginia
Baylor
Ohio State
Vanderbilt
Kansas State
BYU (out)
Maryland (out)
Wisconsin (out)
Michigan State (out)
New Mexico (out)

Are there others, or am I wrong on any? I didn't include teams that are finished with their conference tournaments.

Pitt is about to get knocked out by Notre Dame. There's one projected 3 that has opened a window.

I don't think OSU or WVU should be of any concern..we're not catching them regardless. The other teams I agree with, today has been good to us.

Oh, I am definitely shooting for the stars with some of these. I realize that it may change nothing, but it couldn't HURT for them to fail.

A dude can dream.

It'd be nice if Cincinnati knocked off West Virginia, but I won't hold my breath.

It's off to a good start with Pitt and Villanova both losing today. IMO, if UT makes the final, that should lock up a #3. Win the tourney and they have an OUTSIDE shot at a #2, assuming they get another win over Kentucky along the way. I think that would look very good on the resume'.

Cincinnati has managed to tie WVU with just 3 minutes remaining.

How spectacular has the Big East tournament been? I'm not buying the "there are only a few elite teams" line with all these upsets/near upsets.

Are the Big East teams all really good, or just pretty mediocre? WVU pulled a thriller though. I go to WVU, place went crazy when Butler hit the j lol.

From other threads, I know you are set and I won't be able to convince you of anything. The tournament is the ultimate crucible, though. We'll know what's what in a couple weeks.

It sure would help for New Mexico to lose to SDSU, and BYU to lose to UNLV. If we could beat Ole Miss and Kentucky, we'd have a number 2 seed even if we lost the SEC final.

I'm pretty set for now you're right. The tournament will either prove me wrong or right. For the sake of my bracket I hope I'm right lol.

This thread just got more relevant with our win over Ole Miss. Now those helpful losses from yesterday are going to positively affect our overall standing, since we have held serve and done what we were supposed to do.

I added Maryland, but not Duke. Duke failing will not move them below a two seed, and thus not really help or hurt us.

There's going to have to be an investigation the way Maryland is getting to foul at will without a call.
