I got two guesses. The processor is over heating and causing the freezes, or the memory controller is failing.

We'll need more analysis. Is it only the mouse that freezes or does the whole OS? Do you keep seeing your HDD Activity Indicator flash on your case?

Check to see that you have the correct driver installed for the mouse and OS.

Since you bought it used...have you run AdAware or CCleaner (or similar) on the computer? A virus scan as well.

I had an old PC that somehow got a virus that affected my old mouse. No matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it. I ended up getting a wireless keyboard and mouse and connecting by USB.

I purchased a brand new mouse yesterday thinking it was my old one that's screwed up.But it does the same thing.
For the most part it's just my mouse..sometimes it affects my keyboard as well.

If it only does it on the internet I would say maybe your NIC driver is not current or there is a conflict. If it does it at other times you may need to do a repair install of your OS. First test would be your RAM though. Download Memtest86 and run it for a few hours. If you have more than one RAM stick, run it on each one individually. Also run chkdsk on your hard drive.

Guess what I am asking doesn't really matter. Let's just hope the display setting resolves the issue.

I was only asking to save you from having to reboot every time, but that is not pertinent to fixing the issue.

Once again I thank you for the info....if what I did doesn't work I'll try something different on there.
