Martin_Tee-2005.jpg

Tee is currently in preseason camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was signed by the Bombers last year after being released by the Oakland Raiders. Tee was active for the last 7 weeks of the season in 2004, but did not see any action.

After the Bombers acquired Tee Martin, they almost immediately traded starter and former league all-star Khari Jones. Kevin Glenn started for the remainder of the season. He is the preseason favorite to start for the Bombers, and put up some pretty good numbers towards the end of last season.

There is a window when CFL players can be signed by NFL teams. Team officials were afraid that Tee would end up signing with an NFL team. However, Tee re-signed with the Bombers.

Team officials like what they've seen from Tee, but caution the CFL fans that time is needed for Tee to learn the differences in the CFL game.

Going into training camp, the Bombers had Kevin Glenn, Tee Martin, and Stanley Jackson as quarterbacks. The Bombers recently acquired Spergon Wynn in a trade and released Stanley Jackson.

Wynn was the backup quarterback for the B.C. Lions and just like Tee has some NFL/NFLEL experience. Wynn played for the Browns and Vikings from 2000-2001, passing for 585 yds (46.1%), 1 TD, and 7 int in 10 games. In Europe in 2001, he completed a league-high 193 passes on 337 attempts for 2,041 yards and 14 TDs. He has spent the last 2 seasons as the backup qb for the BC Lions.

Kevin Glenn has been in the CFL since 2001. He started 9 games in his first three seasons with the Roughriders. He was then traded to Winnipeg and started the final 8 games of last season passing for 2,329 yards on 166-of-274, 14 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.

Tee has been listed several times on the Bombers' press releases as one of the preseason 'Stars of the Day."

Tee was injured (knee, day-to-day) this week during practice.

The Bombers first preseason game is tonight at 9:00 eastern time. Hopefully, he'll get some action tonight?

The Bombers first game vs the Saskatchewan Roughriders, June 25 at 10pm, will be televised in the United States on the following channels: America One, FSN NY*, CSN Chicago*, CSN West*, and CSET.

From Sunday's practice notes, "QB Tee Martin returned to action following a minor knee injury that kept him out of Friday’s pre-season game and looked good in practice."

From pre-season game reports, none of the Bombers quarterbacks looked very good in the game. The game with the Eskimos ended in a 20-20 tie.

The Bombers final pre-season game is Thursday June 16 at home against the Edmonton Eskimos at 8:30 eastern.

Martin's knee problem causes quiet panic

By JIM BENDER, STAFF REPORTER, Winnipeg Sun

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were breathing a sigh of relief after a quiet panic concerning the knee problem experienced by quarterback Tee Martin last week.

"Yeah, we kind of kept that under wraps," Bomber GM Brendan Taman admitted yesterday. "We were all concerned. When the team went to Edmonton, I wasn't sure if he'd even be able to play this Thursday. But since then, it's come around nicely. He was pain-free (yesterday)."

Martin, 26, had the knee scoped when he was still in college nine years ago and the problem flared up for the first time last week.

"Sometimes, you get wear and tear," he said.

"Sometimes, little pieces chip off. Sometimes, it gets a little rough under the kneecap and I think that was the situation with my knee. There's nothing floating around where I have to go in and get it scoped.

"It's just a little roughness under there. It's something that I can try to help through treatment, pain management and all that stuff. We're going to be smart about it. If there's some irritation, I'm going to step back a little bit. If not, then I'm going to go full speed."

But Martin is scheduled to play against the Edmonton Eskimos when they come to town for another exhibition match Thursday.

'FLYING AROUND'

"Tee saw the doctors, got clearance, went through every little push and pull and twist test that they do and he felt better about it then," said head coach Jim Daley. "After (Sunday's) practice and treatment and treatment (yesterday) before practice, he was really confident of it and was flying around with a smile on his face. If a player's confident in his leg, he will play with confidence and that's how Tee performed (yesterday). It's always a concern but in this case, we alleviated the concern by making sure, in his mind, it's a safe thing."
