To this point in the season Tyler Smith still has seven more free throw attempts than Scotty Hopson has. And Smith has made 11 more shots.

This just goes to show how unaggressive Hopson has been with the basketball.

I wonder how Basilio would turn this stat..To date, only two players on this team have attempted more ft than Smith. That would be Wayne and JP. Or, Scotty has made 38 3 pt. shots while Smith has made none.

I'm not arguing if Hopson is aggressive or not. I've seen him and others take some possessions off. Or who is better than whom. I don't listen to Basilio's show or any sports talk shows. Maybe I'm missin' something.

Well, it's not Scotty's fault that Smith didn't play as many minutes as he did. I'm just saying that sometimes stats don't necessarily paint a real picture for me.

Hopson has played the most minutes on the team.

I'm glad you posted this. It's made me rethink some things regarding sports talk radio. Seems this Basilio fellow is an alright guy. I'm going to see if I can catch some of his shows on the internet. Thanks, really.

Some people are too easy on him. He is getting his school payed for to play basketball and he isn't doing too good of a job at it.

Scotty Hopson should come off the bench. I dont think he does anything to earn his starting spot. If I was Bruce I would straight up tell him that he is not playing well enough to start in these games.

I would pull him to the side and tell him that he needs to step it up...If I did not see any more sense of urgency in him after that conversation then he would not start the rest of the year!

I have believed since the beginning of the season that Scotty is afraid of being aggressive. It has been stated mulitiple times, He is soft. I agree that he should come off the bench. Pearl has stated, his team has stated, Scotty needs to be more agressive. It is as though he does not understand that he has the ability to create his own shot. I think he would respond well to coming off the bench with limited playing time. It may give him the fire he needs to compete on this level.

Is benching a player the only way a coach can get through to him anymore?

What do they do in practice? Or rather, what don't they do in practice? Whatever happened to that so-called "tough love"?

Who's going to start ahead of him and do better at the 3? Skylar McBee? A limping Cameron Tatum? Woolridge?

If Hopson lights up UK, like Yarbrough used too, I'll take it. Vincent may not have been the best player to ever wear the Orange, but he was A VERY solid contributor on some very balanced offensive teams. Hopson < Yarbrough.

You may have forgotten, buy Yarbrough was one of the best defenders to ever wear a Vols' uniform. He was also a solid rebounder, and averaged over 15 ppg over his last 3 yrs.

He's # 6 in career rebounds. Wayne is # 7 right now.

I don't remember a lot of people saying that Yarbrough was soft. The main knock on him was that he took plays off on defense and that he wasn't really a team player. However, Yarbrough was a much better defender, more consistent, and in general an all around better player at this point in his career than Hopson.
