There is a lot of talk about hurry-up, no huddle, and up tempo offense. It seems to have a particular emphasis as UT prepares for Oregon.

I would like to submit that the tempo is not as important as controlling the tempo. There may be times where it is important to slow down as much as to speed up. Sometimes, the offense has to allow their own defense to catch a breather. Other times, the offense must push the opposing defense into a stagger. I just believe that the resulting tempo is not as important as the team controlling it.

I agree completely which is why I've said that for us to have a realistic shot at winning this game, the O-line is going to have to prove it is, in fact, an elite unit. If we can establish and sustain some offensive momentum, I think we will be in this game with a chance to win it outright in the 4th quarter.

Nice post OP! Games like this are won or lost controlling the line of scrimmage!!

If we can gain some control of both lines we have a chance to still be in it at the end, you hear me Tiny and Dan??

If we can't.......well.......it could get ugly.

'Bama has done pretty well with a huddle in recent years haven't they? They own the line of scrimmage.

Oregon will rotate 25 on defense. Dline rotates every other series. What quacks me up are these teams that think you can all of sudden play every 15 seconds. Oregon has been steadily perfecting the scheme since 2007. It took years. You have to build depth.

To be fair, Tennessee has been working on an adjusted hurry-up no huddle since he got to Tennessee. That is his ideal tempo.
