Tennessee freshman Andrew Toles delivered a walk-off single to cap a two-run ninth inning that gave the Volunteers a 4-3 victory over Auburn to close out the 2011 campaign on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

He only made it to 7 SEC wins, contract can't roll-over unless you get 8 :p

It was said the Irony on Senior Day it was a Freshman that won the game but Liles a senior still helped by tying the game with a HR.
The Last play

Even with only play to pride for it was a amazing game. The Vols never quit.
Fantastic the Vols finish the a abysmal season by winning their 2nd SEC Series again a team from Alabama.
The last play was fantastic Toles with a clutch hit, and Osborne slides in for the winning run.
Osborne would not be denied.

Bring on Chris Burke please

Please tell us why you think Chris Burke would be a good hire?

With no coaching background what do you know that Burke would do differently or better?

Serious question, I want to know what the pro-Burke, pro-Honeycutt people are thinking.

Most people including myself can't name 3 college baseball coaches- still I want to see the Vols do good on the field.

Bad attempt at sarcasm I guess; I should have said, "Bring on someone besides Raleigh please."

I'm not Pro-Burke but I think there are two scenarios by which he could get the job.
1. He gives a great interview and talks about the amazing assistants he could bring due to his MLB playing days. Hamilton has been wowed by this before with Kiffin.

2. There is simply no one else, we get turned down by everyone ahead of Burke on the list. This would include even Alan Cockrell, also a former Vol, but with some coaching exp. and several Associate HC's and assistants like Mike Bell who have Tennessee ties.

I'd like to ask this question. Do we have a better chance of getting a proven coach if Hamilton makes the hire or a new AD makes the hire?

Chris Burke could never bring experienced collegiate assistants. What experienced assistants would feel comfortable working for a 31-year-old guy with no experience? His staff would be guys his age or younger, likely guys with minor or MLB playing experience like him.;

It would take several months to hire a new athletic director. If we fired Mike after the NCAA hearings next month, then we would be looking at July or August for a new coach. Then we would be behind the 8-ball like with the Dooley hire.

An inexperienced Chris Burke could never bring guys like Fred Corral or Mike Bell.

I have no idea who he'd bring, my point was Hamilton's been swayed in interviews before. When Hamilton went outside the norm for Kiffin, he turned conservative. Burke is a former Vol, but that's all he's got in terms of experience. Both Cockrell and Honeycutt have coached something, but neither have college or headcoach experience. I was just putting a scenario of how it could happen. It's certainly not what I want to happen.

I see your point in terms of timing.

Burke, albeit young, has some pretty solid connections.
