Are there any rod builders out there? I'm building a rod and am having trouble getting the checkerboards straight. Looking for advice on getting this right, taking into account the taper of the blank.

It's in the early stages of the butt wrap, still has Power T logo, guide wraps and logo/decals to go but thought I'd ask.

Also thought I'd share this since I didn't get much love from the Florida locals and thought you guys may appreciate it more.

If there's interest, I'll update when the guides, logo clear coat go on - should look much better at that point.

You're just showing off, that looks nice. I see what you mean about the checkerboard going slightly off line, but it is negligible. What did you use for the checkerboards? Looks like plastic or leather wrap, what is going to stop it from twisting when you cast?

The white portion of the checker are strips of vinyl and the orange is thread as is the white and silver portions. The wrap isn't going anywhere, I couldn't twist it straight if I tried. Additionally, the whole wrap will get several coats of clear epoxy to seal and protect.

The clear epoxy protects both the thread and gives it a high gloss shine.
