Tennessee Football: Previewing 5 Biggest Position Battles Heading into Fall Camp | Bleacher Report

This article actually gave me what I feel was some very positive insight, not just from the author who is a Tennessee writer, but from the players and Jones. It's actually a good read because it ignores the obvious (QB battle) until the very end. Tell me what you think.

My favorite quote from the article from A.J. Johnson:
Some of the guys who came in early in the spring are already on beat, working, being vocal, just as though they've been here for 3 or 4 years. And the guys who just got here this summer, they've got their head down working each day. Some guys came in already knowing the whole defense and are ready to play. You can tell the way they are working, how much they put into their work. It's going to help us a lot. We've got older guys and we've got younger guys, so we've got competition. If you've got competition, everybody is going to go harder and play better.

Thanks babe.

Wut...

And my thoughts: I can't ever get past the first page because I refuse to participate in the slide shows.

But, I'm most looking forward to the competition for the last LB spot likely between JRM and Dillon Bates.

Lol. I'm calm. That's just kinda weird, James. But you keep doin' you.

What position battle are you looking forward to the most?

Hmmm, that's a good question. I really feel our biggest weakness is the DL. I don't know how much of a battle there will be though since we need the depth.

I just want to see improvement on both sides of the line. I think we have a great set of corners, safeties, receivers, TEs, and running backs.

All we need is solid QB play which I think Worley will give us, and good line play from the OL and DL.

After reading that article, it just amazes me that O'Brien has become the forgotten guy at the DT spot. Was he just overhyped by the recruiting services? or are Dixon and O. Williams that much better?

Great article. My only concern is if 5 spots are the only ones with competition, what happens if one or many of the other 17 starters gets hurt?

1B. Sunshine Pumpers vs Negavols

No "Battle" discussion is complete without this one.

BR has gone a long way to improves its standards, and thereby, its reputation as well.

If the stuff on BR is from a "featured columnist" then it'll usually be pretty good.

The other stuff they have (i.e. fanmade stuff or cross-posts that aren't BR writers) are what has given BR its less-than-sterling reputation.

WRs will be a battle
TEs will be a battle
RB will be a battle
Kicking will be a battle
Maybe even returns could be a battle
Waterboy will be a battle too

Don't know which battle is the biggest but DL and LB is the most interesting to me. Lots of new faces in the mix. Lots of promising talent too.
