The mysterious "X" reported the following information on Tony Basilio's blog today (The Tony Basilio Show): "I was watching an interview this weekend and one of the National Recruiting Guys (don’t remember his name) said that Tennessee yes our Vols are the hottest team on the recruiting trail through the first third of the football season." Has anyone else heard this? Can you corroborate the context within which this statement was allegedly made or the identity of the commentator?

Even X is a bit skeptical of this data. He asserts that "I have a hard time thinking of Tennessee as being “hot” when Tennessee on paper has 1 possibly 2 spots left in the 2015 class. If this analyst is correct, I expect we may see some do-over’s in the commitment list between now and Signing Day 2015." After an extensive discussion of official and unofficial visitors for the Florida game, X concludes by stating that "My understanding is there are between 5 and 10 prospects on the board not committed to Tennessee that are “takes” … Dudes, that means the commitment list could do an about face between now and February."

Is this just a matter of Butch stacking contingency plans on top of contingency plans or is the final composition of this class in greater flux than is generally believed? I will be interested to read your opinions.

CBJ seams to have a pattern going. Sign pretty talented kids early so that our needs are filled, attract some very talented prospects and get them to commit so they can begin to recruit for us, and lastly fill out the class with the best players avialable. This strategy is great because we won't end up like we did under Dooley with our pants down anymore come NSD with huge holes in our classes. We fill the class with talented prospects, and then we swig for the fences and try to land the best prospects avialable. The key is to get a KMac or TKJR on board who can begin to recruit great players for us early. I think Kendall and Osborne are those guys for us next year. Having a great QB porspect should really help us reload on WR talent in 2016. This strategy works well for CBJ, and as long as he can smooth talk his way out of guys commitments then we won't have a problem down the road recruiting those player's schools again. I believe CBJ and staff are helping guys find homes when they tell them to look around. We aren't just hanging these kids out to dry, and this should help us gain the respect of high school coaches around the country. UT football is a bussiness, and when you run it professionally huge dividends will be obtained down the road.

Not to keep bring it up but Doug Mathews has been saying this for a month now. Feb commits may look a lot different from today

Found this free read on rivals. Second story. Power of the VOLS. Sounds great.

Just win baby. Just win

The author made a most interesting observation pertaining to our DT tandem for the 2015 class: "The Vols 1-2 punch at DT with Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie is historically significant, at least from a Rivals.com rankings perspective. I would put only the Florida DT 1-2 haul in 2010 of Sharrif Floyd and Dominique Easley and Florida State's 1-2 combo in 2012 of Mario Edwards and Eddie Goldman ahead of this off the top of my head. It is extremely rare for two defensive tackles ranked in the national top 60 to choose the same school. It makes the commitments even that much more impressive and if Tennessee somehow adds Roseboro, that would be historic."

What this staff is doing coming off of so many losing seasons is in-f***ingcredible. I really thought we were almost done and was actually a little upset about losing jefferson and richmond. But new names keep surfacing every day and theyre all studs. Its insane how these guys attack recruiting. Were a winning season away from an ungodly class. If we somehow get to 8 this year theres no possible way this isnt a top 3 class.

I am very confused as to how we handle all the recruiting momentum and interest since we have our class almost full. You have to think that a stud OL prospect is top on our board. Will be interesting to see it play out.

No one wants to play for a loser. These recruits have to be looking at the playing calling by the OC and going WTF..... WHo in their right mind wants to play offense for UT right now?

I presume that you consider all of the following commitments to be “insane.” If so, it is on paper a rather impressive assemblage of offensive talent:

(1) Venzell Boulware, 4-star guard. Top 170 player as ranked by Rivals.
(2) Quinten Dormady. 4-star quarterback.
(3) Jauan Jennings. 4-star dual-threat quarterback.
(4) Jack Jones. 4-star tackle. Top 100 player as ranked by Rivals.
(5) Alvin Kamara. 4-star JUCO running back.
(6) Zach Stewart. 4-star guard.
(7) Preston Williams. Consensus 5-star wide receiver and top 30 player nationally.

Now, would you be so kind as to take your negativity back to the land of knee-jerk reactionaries otherwise known as the Football Forum?
