The TSSAA announced the finalists for Mr. Football on Wednesday and the list included several major college recruits and a few sleeper prospects to keep an eye on.

That johnny jones kid is tearing it up in tennessee football. He has had the publicity comparable to what Hurd did his junior year. I wonder if UT could have a spot for him?

Malik McGue for Science Hill is very good. Easily one of the best football players I've ever seen in East TN. He almost single-handedly beat Brentwood Academy when the two teams played in September. The only thing keeping this kid from getting a ton of D1 offers is his size. He's only 5'8.

True but the McGue kid plays QB/WR/PR/DB for his high school team. From what I'm told, he wants to play QB in college. That's his primary position for his high school team and man is he a good one. Not a lot of D1 schools want a 5'8 QB though.

Absolute joke he only has an offer from UT Martin. Great vision and 1 cut running style. He could be another "Randall Cobb" and end up being a great player.

I actually coached against Travis Stephens when he was at Clarksville northeast. in fact, it was amazing how many of those players from the UT 1998 NC team that I coached against. I think I counted about 5 major contributors. He was a special player. He was a great back, but he was hell on special teams and defense too. They use to put him and another great athlete they had at twin safeties about 10 yards off the Los. We would block a run play perfectly, and they would be there to fill it before we could get it going. He also blocked a fg before halftime that proved to be huge in the game.

Had a chance to speak with him at my son's flag football game.(he was a ref). Real polite kid and has skill at the back position. He told me he was wanting an Ole Miss offer to which I replied...Go Vols.

Doubtful but his numbers are certainly impressive, rushing for 2,345 yards & 46 TDs.

we expect Mr. Football award winner for the kicker position Laszio Toser to be on campus as a visitor as the Vols have offered him a preferred walk-on spot and all signs are pointing to him accepting that offer.
