So people on here are bashing tennessee football. No our recruiting class wasn't great, but was solid. Part of that was probably because a lot of recruits didn't know who the coaches were going to be.

Now for next year and the year after. We do need a good class next year and I think it will help with Clawson and Scott getting their name out there. I think Clawson will really help our offense and I can really see us winning the SEC this year. Our offense should be better with Crompton who doesn't get rid of the ball early to avoid a hit. Our recievers can get into their routes and although young I think they will be hard to handle. Our offensive line and running backs will be a strong poit, and with Clawson calling the plays I think that he will utilize all of our backs.

On defense, I think this is the best we have had in years. Our Secondary will be strong, and borderline magnificent if morely can pick up where he left off. Our Linebackers will be very good to I think. McCoy will bring the BANG and Wilson has shown he can do a great job given th opportunity. I am not sure who our other backer will be, but hopefully it will be Gerald Williams, if it is people are going to be scared to get hit by these beasts. Our Line you people say is a question mark, I don't think so. Ben Martin Will have a great year and can get after the QB, and on the otherside Ayers and Wes Brown, and Chris Walker and even Chris Donald if he moves will get in on the action. Now our DT's Williams I think can be a beast as with Bolden, if they can step in and play to their potential we may have one of the best defenses in the country. You may call me crazy but I have seen these guys show flashes of brilliance and they can play with the best of them.

I can realistically see us going through the season with only a loss or two, but I don't see a team out there that we can't beat, we just have to be ready to play every game.

We have some good players coming from JUCO next year so I think we will be fine and if we play to our potential and so creative calling from Clawson, we will be back at the top of the Football world in 09".

Bama replaced both coordinators and was #1 in the country. Your argument fails.

Both of Bama's new coordinators are well known D1 coaches who have been around for quit awhile. Kevin Steel is one of the best coaches in the country and developed quit a reputation at Oklahoma. Your reply is what fails.

So then I guess you must admit that Fulmer failed in his hires?

Check please.

Next year, if Tennessee still has a recruiting class in the 30s then the bitching is valid.

Bringing in two unknown coaches on the offensive side of the ball will hurt recruiting.

The best thing in the world to fix the problem is winning.

Just win and everything will work itself out.

Maybe. Basically, next year they are going to have to have another Top 10 class that also addresses needs on both lines. From what alot of folks have been spouting this time around you will not have big * numbers if you are addressing needs along the lines. Thus, it's going to be virtually impossible to recover from two down recruiting years out of three without a significant hiccup.

I live how the diehard Fulmer supporters on GS are already posting about how we should be happy with 8 and 9 win seasons because we don't know what it was like in the late 70s and early 80s. We're already halfway down the slippery slope. It's going to take a savior to get us back up the hill.

I'll be damned if I'm ever happy with 8 win seasons here.

Jonathan Crompton.
Could be? A great QB can do a lot for a program. Woodson for Kentucky. Cutler for Vandy.

But can a great QB win you a championship without a solid supporting cast on both sides of the ball? Tebow couldn't do it this year and he was on a decent team.

edit: On that note, that was one reason I was really hoping that the Vols would get E. Davis. I think a great RB is worth 7 points per game, above and beyond usual production.

Looked like Florida had a shaky defense, although couldn't tell when they were playing us.

Loo king for a serious answer. Do you think Fulmer can get the job done? If not would you rather the blowup happen now so we can start that process?

Keep in mind that I am as frustrated as the next guy about the state of the UT program in its enitirety, but here is one thing no one is considering right now...It looks like UT is going to beat the averages with last year's signing class. To clarify, if you look at all the contributors, it looks to be the most productive class we have had for some time now.
The 07 class is not just special on paper. That is why I am not ready to mail it in quite yet.

Fair enough neither am I but I hear so many people talking about the state of our program. We have slipped but the point I always make is who else is out there that I would trust to make UT better. Any thoughts?

Next year is a make or break year without question. The die is cast for CPF with his OC hire. Staunch CPF supporters have always hung their hat on his recruiting ability. Once that is gone, CPF's party in Knoxville is definitely over.

For the sake of arguement say we lose 4 next year and Fulmer is gone. Who do you look at? Someone who is considered an upstart or an established coach?

I look at both. Why limit your options?

Yeah that Davis kid is obviously way better than Foster, Hardesty, Creer, and Vereen. If we could have gotten him and Smoker would have still been around we would have had a definate 14 points a game this year.

I don't see why you think that E. Davis is that good. Yeah he looks good on paper, but what about in the game. There is no doubt that Hargrave has two or three times the talent on there team than the schools they are playing. He may be great, but he may not be, only time will tell, but I will take Creer and our other stable of backs any day of the week.

Also get off the clawson bashing, if he leads the offense to 35 points a game and a beating on our biggest rivals you guys will be right back on the wagon praising Fulmer. Which in my opinion doesn't make you half the faithful Tennessee fans the rest of us are.

Vols win SEC in 08" you heard it here.
