Can't say I'm crying over that. We have our best class in years (on paper). Yesterday's commit is only a 1 or 2* by the services. He will be a stud in 2 years. I could care less where the services rate us, we'll know in 4 years how good everyone's 2005 classes are.

If we can get Slick Shelley  & Kenny Phillips :rocks: , I don't think we'll have anything to worry about

Scout still has us # 1 and Oklahoma at # 4.

Don't panic folks, this is going to be a top class.

We may or may not be ranked # 1 but there may be some who hand out more scholarships than we do this year.

I read somewhere that the recruiting class that produced Peyton had several in it that never made it to campus and several that did that never played a down and that class was ranked # 1 by several publications.... my point we'l be ok either way

Between bar fights, shooting weapons in the yard, DWI's, skipping classes, injury and a host of other factors, class rankings are a very inexact science.

That being said; it's still a good indicator of where you should expect that class to be ranked when they are juniors and seniors.

If you go back and look at the last 5 to 7 years (the time span where classes have been closely evaluated by recruiting services) you'll find a direct correlation between recruiting rankings and final poll rankings.

If a team has 2 or 3 classes ranked 35 or so, you can darned sure bet they won't be in the top 10 final AP poll as juniors or seniors.

While a #1 class won't insure NC, it does insure that you will have a decent team, barring some unforeseen disaster (Scandal, coaching change etc.).

Over the years, I've seen the whole gamut from homesick for momma to drowning (God forbid we have any more like that!!!) Always fun to see who stays and who plays....in the words of Gandalf, "It's oft the uninvited guest that provides the best company."

that was kinda my point as long as we are somewhere in the hunt for #1 class we should be ok

This boost for Oklahoma is just coming from Demarcus Granger. Still, Oklahoma is barely ahead of Tennessee. If we can manage Kenny Phillips, we will be back at number one.

theres always kids to step up and top talent 5 star kids that will never pan out......i personally looking at the other classes......think we have the top one in terms of potential and the overall talent......i cant wait for these kids to hit the campus

LOL....Its okay guys. We will probably pass OU back for the #1 spot, but if we don't its not that big of a deal. We're gonna finish in the top 3. I hope no one would actually be disappointed with that. That would be kinda sad.

The real thing is this:

How do these kids mesh, with the rest of the team. This is a year that the coaches are not gonna ask more than 2 freshmen to step up and start. We have experience in all the key places, unlike last year. Our QB's are great, great WR core, and at leat 2 strong RB's. All we need is a few of these kids to step up and make some plays this year.

That being said...two years from now, they all better be starters or this class will not look as good.

It would be kinda sad, yet we won the eastern Division of the SEC, won the Cotton Bowl in a blowout, all in a year we were supposed to be rebuilding, and we have people yelling to fire our coaches.

Scout's ranks are untrustworthy and usually very overrated just as Scout.com is overrated and 2nd rate.
Rivals doesn't give stars out like candy and when they give a recuit stars they have earned them. It is a much more reliable site and 1st rate all the way.

Myers is rated a 3-star recuit by Rivals.

la LSU is in 29th place. Seems their coaching staff has a problem with closing on recruits.

Nebraska should be number one in recruiting. My gosh they are recruiting 30 + players. That program is in complete rebuilding phase. They were below average in a below average league last year.

As long as you're top-five, you know you can expect a solid team. Whoever ends up first is usually just trivial.
