Tennessee to play home-and-home against Virginia

Tentative agreement reached to start the series next season. Not too bad. I would still like an elite OOC game like UNC, Syracuse, Duke, etc., but Virginia is a quality opponent.

i like the call. schedule a decent team, but not a world beater, ridiculously hard game. also, unc and duke would never agree to a home and home series, and i highly doubt syracuse would either. i like this pick up, it provides a good win on a resume, and isnt a bad loss if you do lose, very winnable game IMO.

i think the years of bruce scheduling where we see memphis, and about 6 other top 50 games in our ooc slate. JMHO

Yeah, I would still like to see the Syracuse match, if for nothing else, all the freaking orange lol.

it looks like they played florida at home this year. was that maybe the big east/ sec challenge though? other than that they dont play anybody else in their house or on the road thats highly rated. biggest ooc game, not preseason tourney, was @ nc state.

all the orange could confuse players, tatum would definitely be throwing it to the wrong team.

It's probably going to be a little while before we get the elite opponents again just because we've fallen so far on a national scale from 2010 to now. This is the type of game I'm happy to see scheduled: a road game against a good team with a good coach.

my 3rd favorite team. tony bennett will get a lot of votes for coach of the year.

Dude is one of the most underrated coaches in the country IMO: he has done a hell of a job at Virginia, and Washington State and really gets very little attention from it.

Good guy as well IMO

Agreed. Similar styles with tough hard nose defense. Being only 1.5 hrs from c-ville, I like this series.

I really like the series. Sets up to give us a very capable good ooc win and not a crazy juggernaut scheduled. It was hard to have an elite record playing the schedule pearl liked ooc. It was a benefit if you were bubble, but that was the problem sometimes that you ended up on the bubble if you lost a few of those ooc games.

Scheduling very winnable games like Virginia doesn't destroy your SOS but it gives you an opportunity to have a very good record, with some good ooc wins with Virgins and Memphis next year. It'll be interesting to see what tourney we play in early next year, and why state schools we play. Pearl liked to play Belmont which is a very good team, but also a tough game, curious if we keep games like that.

Speaking of the Memphis game, that could get a little bit nuts. Last game between two teams that hate each other for a while in what's been a very physical series. TBA will be rocking.

I think Pearl liked to play the mid-conference powers because he coached at one and knew what it was like being there.

i have thought the same thing for awihle.

ccm though doesnt seem to have that same mind set, atleast not so much at pearl, and he coached a mid-major so who knows.

There is a VAST difference in personality between CCM and CBP. Pearl was cocky and arrogant. Cuonzo is confident and speaks softly but carries a big stick

I would say that will happen in 2018 when Hummel finally graduates with 3 PHD's... I swear he has been in Purdue for like 8 years
