Phil Fulmer needs to quit worrying about what he wants on his triple cheeseburgers and start becoming a student of the game. When he does this he could become a true champion instead of a true hog. He also needs to step up and be a man and be held accountable for his team's misfortune this season. Instead of letting Randy take the blame for this. If Randy, Pat Washington, and the O-line have to be fired then so should big Phil. He should get a job as a manager of a Dunkin Donouts shop. He would be king there. :mf_surrender:

I guess Spazzy is trying to be like John Adams. Comments certainly did get a rise out some of us. Venting can be good but that was just plain mean.

I agree that Fulmer should have spent less time worrying about who the athletic director was going to be and what recruiting violations alabama is engaged in and more time worrying about the UT offense and special teams. Thats obvious. :devilsmoke:

First post on the board = :lame:

Welcome to the board.....Fulmer is quite plump and content with himself, but he brought someone back that made him look good back in the day and actually cares about the kids at UT and is a great coach. Notice nobody is lined up at Randy Sanders door to hire him??? Its not all Fulmer's fault but he should have carried more of the burben. Just the head coach himself doesn't make a program look good. Most of the time it is the assistants that make a head coach and as you could tell this year Fulmers assistants made him look bad.

I don't necessarily agree about Fulmer being fired, but I have had a hard time understanding why he didn't respond YEARS ago. Obvious to most (I believe) our o-line has underperformed since JRS was hired by CPF. Our offense has been in steady decline since NC. Our o scheme has almost become a joke. Most 6 year old kids know our 8 play offense by heart. Not to mention every defensive coach in the country knew what was coming. How much real development have we seen occur with some of the best talent this country & others offers. This obvious slippage all while other SEC programs were beginning to "own" us. Why Staff tweaking hasn't been done prior to an eminent meltdown is beyond me. And quite honestly the in hous hiring rage that's now taking place is questionable at best.

As a whole there hasn't been many if any big name Football power that's slipped as much...maybe Nebraska. Why Staff tweaking hasn't been done prior  to an eminent meltdown is beyond me.

In a nutshell this is the problem. Back in 98 when Fulmer was winning an NC he was the second best coach in the league behind Spurrier.

Now he is probably the fourth best in the league and sliding to fifth or sixth behind Meyer and Miles. Although Meyer and Miles are green, they first seasons in the league are pretty good. Meyer had a good run at Utah before. Taking a team like Utah to a BCS game is pretty impressive.

1. Richt
2. Spurrier
3. Tubberville
4. Meyers
5. Miles
6. Fulmer

Fulmer first response is to blame the assistant coaches and that will work one time. But at some point the finger gets pointed back at Fulmer if things dont turn around.

The bottom line is next year Fulmer has to play Alabama, LSU, Florida, Ga, and South Carolina. I say Fulmer can probably win 2 of those which means an 8-3 season. Depends on which QB shows up for UT, could easily fall to 7-4. Not sure how long Fulmer can continue like that and keep the vol faithful happy.
