I had to chuckle a bit when I saw this match-up and wonder if it was just a chance pairing, or did the NCAA have an agenda when they paired Tennessee (coached by Bruce Pearl) against Michigan (coached by John Beilein - who just happens to be the Head of the NCAA Basketball Ethics Committee). Will probably spark some debate among the commentators.

If Pearl wins, he gets to face Coach K... also a well respected guy. Is there a murders row of highly ethical coaches lined up against Pearl?

if you're going for "agendas" or conspiracy ideas, would be much better to look at / use what they gave Illinois rather than us.

much more

I don't think the NCAA had an agenda in the pairing, I just found it a slightly humerous irony. The "did the NCAA have an agenda" part was mostly tongue and cheek and goes with the "ESPN hates us" debate.

Very true. What would have been more ironic would to have been put in the bracket with Ohio State if we won our first game. Craft/Matta vs. Cookout vs. BP vs. possible last game with UT. The announcers could have a field day with that one.

So true, not to mention adding the Jim Tressel/Ohio State debacle into their dialogue as well.

I'm sure that the NCAA Selection Committee had that right up there on their list of pickin' and sendin'.

Right after shafting Alabama, dissin' Harvard, and Smoochin' the Gators.

Or maybe not. I'm just glad we don't have to play Duke in Charlotte.

Oh.

Never mind.

It is not the ethics committee. It is an ethics coalition. Quit with all the ESPN NCAA is out to get us conspiracy.

I guess you missed post #9 where I said it was a tongue in cheek remark making fun of the ESPN and conspiracy theorists. In some articles it is referred to as the Ethics Committee and others as the Ethics Coalition. In one article, it is called the Ethics Coalition followed by the sentence, "this committee is made up of..." I don't think the semantics in this case is a big issue.
