I firmly believe if Bruce Pearl tells Terrelle Pryor he can play both basketball and football, we will have a starting QB and a great basketball player next year. Thoughts?

he is close with coach cut and if cut leaves, i say our chances to land him do to

Never thought about that... but I'd rather not continue on with multiple blowouts to rivals and average bowl games for one star player.

If he's close with Bruce and he likes the potential hire (assuming there is a shake-up) I wouldn't say he's totally out of the question.

Wouldn't it be something if we hired Major Applewhite? Not saying we should but just what if.

Not trying to go against u or anything, but one playmaker can change entire games now, they're called "game changers", a few examples would include... Percy Harvin, Darren Mcfadden, Brad Lester, Desean Jackson, etc..

a few more from years past would include... Reggie Bush, Peter Warrick, Devin Hester, Vince Young... these are just guys who make that one big play that either keep a drive going, score, or just give the team momentum which carries to team to a victory... we dont have any players like that, well we do, but they are on the bench this year

and to add to that, will we keep our current recruits if there are changes?

Some - many will opt out I'm sure because they will have come here in order to play under Cut and Fulmer... but then again on the other side we may get some late additions due to have new blood and recruits may be tempted.

Tim Tebow, Michael Vick, Hester from LSU..i mean the list goes on

:lolabove:

But also notice the people you are mentioning have awesome talent around them also, with the exception of Vick really - and look at what he did in the NFL! His team had one good season and it was a fluke.... you still need more than that one guy. McFadden, his team is doing great huh?

What Tennessee needs more than anything right now is a playmaker. Its what we had in Meachem last year. A guy who can take a little pass and take it 80 yards down the field, or in Coker last year who could break long plays. We havent had a defensive playmaker in a long time.

well yea u have to have some talent around u, but we do have the talent we just dont have a playmaker right now.. Mcfadden carried Arky to the SECCG because he had some talent around him, but they dont have much of it this year... The NFL is different tho, im talking about college football, there is no one player that can carry a team in the NFL becuase there are stars at almost every postion... but anyway what we need is a playmaker like Harvin or Tebow who have big play potential, u cant name one player on our team that puts the fear of god in a defense

This guy still won't fix our defense. Then we'd have to find another one of him after three years.

i dont know why, but i really feel that UT is the dark horse for Pryor.. even above Ohio State..

Being the dark horse, UT is not above OSU or WVU. He hasn't set a visit date with anyone but OSU yet. He's visiting the horseshoe on 11/3 when they play Wisconsin. I really want this guy too, but don't get your hopes up.

CPF wouldn't know how to use a playmaker. He'd never develop here like he would elsewhere. Rigg Jr. was the overall #1 recruit in America. We waited 3 years for Meachum. I believe we have playmakers now. Next years coach hopefully will know how to use them.

Riggs was the #12 player in the country but yes he still should have turned out alot better than he did.

Riggs problems had nothing to do with Fulmer. His problems were self-inflicted. You can tell that by the fact that he is not even in the NFL right now.

Or he wasn't developed at the college level to reach his potential. If you take a top talent and dont develop them at all then its like sending a HS kid to the NFL.

According to a recruiting service. Did the coaches forget how to develop talent? (Lewis, Stewart, Henry, Stephens) No, Riggs did not have that type of ability no matter what a recruiting service may have said of him in high school.

mattvols, we sent plenty of RB's to the NFL. Some have been very successful. The coaches at UT had nothing to do with his lack of success after leaving UT. The only way you could blame it on them is to say they were not able to break him of his immature behavior and poor work ethic. And it might not have mattered who his coach was, those things were not likely to change.
