WASHINGTON - A New York man accused of trying to help terrorists in Afghanistan has donated some $15,000 to the House Republicans’ campaign committee over three years.
Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari pleaded not guilty Friday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan to charges that include terrorism financing, material support of terrorism and money laundering.
From April 2002 until August 2004, the man also known as ”Michael Mixon” gave donations ranging from $500 to $5,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, according to Federal Election Commission reports and two campaign donor tracking Web sites, PoliticalMoneyLine and Opensecrets.org--Money in politics data.

I've said for a long time that the Bush administration is good for terrorism, but I didn't think they were actually giving money to them.

I'm just tired of being attacked for having a different opinion on governmental policy.

Note to any Republicans still buying this crap: Just because I want to debate the wisdom and effectiveness of our Iraq policy, that does not make me a supporter of terrorism. No one on either side of this debate (with the possible exception of a few twisted individuals) wants the terrorists to succeed in anything they do. We want to debate this issue because we want the troops to be safe, because we want our military to be ready to respond to our homeland emergencies, and because we want the president to keep his word and avoid "Nation Building".

Debate us with facts, but stop the inane practice of trying to associate us with those that want to kill us.

But look at all those GOP members of Congress lining up in front of cameras talking about how the Dems are aiding terrorists, supporting Osama, etc. Cheney's made it his career to go out and spew that nonsense only to find out that they've been raking in money from those connected to terrorists. And to top it off, the GOP praised this guy on a few opportunities. So when handed an example of blatant connections and support for those involved with terrorists, what does the party have to say? "No comment!"

I hear crickets chirping.

Maybe I've just missed it, but this story hasn't been talked about on any news channels.. Go figure.

The difference is where the extremists rank. Sure their are the kooky fringe liberal and conservative groups that go over the top, but I'm more concerned with the governmental officials. There's a big difference between a blogger with no real power calling the president name and the Vice President telling every news outlet that will give him a mic that liberals are "aiding our terrorist enemies".

How about dem leaders suggesting the administration is destroying civil rights, is lying about intelligence, etc. etc.

How about Howard Dean demonizing Republicans.

If you don't think this cuts both ways, you're missing the big picture.

"You know, the Republicans are not very friendly to different kinds of people. They're a pretty monolithic party. Pretty much, they all behave the same, and they all look the same. ... It's pretty much a white Christian party.'' --speaking about the lack of outreach to minority communities by political parties

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks."

"Now that we're on dog pee, we can have an interesting conversation about that. I do not recommend drinking urine…but if you drink water straight from the river, you have a greater chance of getting an infection than you do if you drink urine." —teaching an eight-grade science class in La Crosse, Wisconsin

"You think people can work all day and then pick up their kids at child care or wherever and get home and still manage to sandwich in an eight-hour vote? Well Republicans, I guess can do that. Because a lot of them have never made an honest living in their lives."

Alright... Upon further review, I'll concede that both sides are equally guilty.
