Not surprising that Michigan and now Texas got such huge deals. They are two of the most recognizable brands in all of American Sports.

Partially related: Nike likes to streamline brands so I'm surprised that Texas taking and using our T (or close to it) is still a thing. The longhorn symbol is extremely recognizable and specific to your school. Use it and leave our T alone.

Texas must sell a **** load of merchandise.

They do. Just drive through the parking lot of any Home Depot in the state and you'll find their t-shirt fans...no joke.

Edit: English is the second language.

This article is from 8/12/2013 but nothing has changed.

Texas Longhorns again top merchandise sales list

For the eighth straight year, the University of Texas collected the most royalties of any college or university represented by the Collegiate Licensing Company, whose clients include all the major schools except Ohio State, Michigan State, University of Southern California and Oregon.

They are pretty much on of the biggest - or maybe even the biggest, Notre Dame aside - brand name in CFB, regardless of whether the team's good or bad, though.

Where do they use it, aside from their baseball uniforms?

I could easily see the argument they are bigger than Notre Dame. I'd almost argue that Nike got the better end of this deal considering Texas has led in merchandising for nearly a straight decade now.

Everybody was lauding how great Bama Dave was in landing the big Nike deal with its huge financial windfall to a struggling UTAD. lol. As usual, hype over substance.

The way to get respect is to win. All the time. At all of the sports. Commit to winning. Texas and Michigan have bigger alumni bases and regional population supporting them than UT. They have to create a national brand by winning at UT. Which the LV's did before Bama Dave did his dirty work. The money follows consistently winning in the major sports.
