I don’t think anyone would have predicted this ride when Hendon Hooker came into the game against Pitt last year. He became the leader of this team, put up a Heisman-contending season, and look at the team now: on the verge of 10 wins and an NY6 bowl—a resurgence of this program on the national level with true optimism and excitement moving forward.
I hurt for this kid that it has to end like it did. No one wants to see an injury of any kind—it’s not fair but that is the unfortunate nature of the game and life.
But I hope he finds solace in the fact that he played a major role—the biggest of roles, even—in where this Tennessee football team is at today.
For that, Hendon Hooker, I say thank you. You’re a true VFL.
