Regardless of if tonight was Coach Summit's last game or not I wanted to thank her.
I want to thank her for the years I have enjoyed watching her and the Lady Vols. I want to thank her for being such a great ambassador for UT.
Most of all I want to thank her for my 13 year old daughter. I want to thank her for the weekend we drove to Knoxville for a game. I want to thank her for the time I read an article to my daughter about Coach Summit growing up on the farm, and her relationship with her Dad. I want to thank her for her example. She helped me show my little girl that hard work is worth the sweat and the blood. Thanks for showing her how you can be the best while treating people with honor and respect. I want to thank her for showing my daughter how to win and how to lose. How to win and shake hands and tell her rivals that they played a good game. And to hold her head high in defeat, congratulate the winner and work like hell to win the next one.
When I watch my girl play I am amazed by the person she is becoming. I love her attitude of being able to do anything and excel. I love even more how when she falls short of her expectations she dedicates herself to improve. I thank you Coach Summit for your part in her life. Although you have never met my daughter, you are part of her. You are part of her drive, her strength, her passion.
Thank you Coach Summit.
