I'm assuming this year will be like last year where the majority of the practice will be closed to the media except for the first 30 minutes or so of drills.

This all started when Tommy Bowden scouted UT's practices to find out their bowl game plan a couple of years ago.

I used to love to read the detailed analysis that the media posted after every practice, about who played well, who's playin with the first team, etc.

After that bowl game Fulmer closed the practices down to the media. I'm sure some other coach would have eventuallydone this, but I think UT's practices had been open for the previous 10 years before that.

I used to live in South Carolina, and Tommy Bowden is the biggest hypocrite you can imagine. I remember when he first got hired at South Carolina, I caught him on some Christian show, talking about how important God was in his life, etc. I was totally stunned when it was revealed he scouted UT's practices before the bowl game forcing Fulmer to close practices to the media and public.

Last year to save his own job, Bowden fired I a lot of his staff and postition coaches. He blamed them for their dismal year so he could save his own job. Some loyalty. I even dislike Bowden more then Spurrier.

I know Spurrier "cant spell citrus without UT" type comments were pretty bad, but at least he wasnt like trying to get an unfair advantage to win.

No that was Jack Sells that tried to fax the playbook TO Ron Zook at Florida.

yep it does stink. Probably for the best though, but it was nice when they were open to the media and we could get more insight.

Clemson doesn't even have any influence on UT sports. South Carolina's recruits already belong more to the Vols than they do the Gamecocks or Tigers, and Clemson is in a different conference anyways. Forget them.
