Butch is responsible for his coordinators and the DC has not even taught them how to play tackle football. None of us need to wonder why so many defenders are out of position anymore. It seems evident to me that they purposely take bad angles and are out of position to avoid any possibility of having to tackle somebody. This defense was scared to death to take on an Auburn runner in the open field.

We have 2 kinds of body types on this team. We have the big potbellies who waddle around like their walking on wooden stilts. These Doolittle recruits haven't broken into a full run since their middle school gym teacher scared them into running once or twice to get a passing grade. These include linemen on both sides of the ball.

The other body type includes the frail DBs and nickel backs and the lightweight linebacker Brewer. They stick to their blocker like glue to avoid the scene of a possible tackle or work their way completely out of position so as not to precariously find themselves confronted by the need to tackle.

I would like to say this is a sarcastic exaggeration but even the announcer said it was like a hot knife going through butter when Auburn sliced and diced their way through and around our defense.

NOT TO EVEN MENTION that it was pointless to kick off or punt to them because our special teams were ALSO afraid to tackle in open field. It was a comedy watching our special team members stumbling and falling all over themselves to avoid making a tackle. We should take the penalty and just kick it out of bounds on kickoffs and order Palardy to kick it out of bounds on punts.

Didn't even read your post. Last years defense was horrid as well. I have no clue why you expect this years to be lightyears better with the same players.

Same players, I don't know why you expect to have an amazing defense all of the sudden.

Ignorant post.
I am not ignorant. You are ignorant. I didn't say I expected them to be an amazing defense. I said they were not a Defense at all.
The definition of defense implies the protection of something, especially from attack by an enemy. I don't see any method of protecting anything.

How about a skoche better? A smidgen? Next to the last instead of dead last? How about a special teams that gives up on their ability to tackle the ball returner, so they pooch the next kickoff but still have to rely on the kicker to make a desperation push out of bounds to save another runback?

That argument can go against you since it was basically the same players two years ago and the D was at least okay,

I was saving some of the worst criticisms for later. Nobody likes to blow it all off in one go at it.

Here's another thing that rubs me wrong. You dizzy sunshiners who point to the defense being bad last year, so naturally it should be bad this year. What do you make of Auburn being 9-1 this year when they were 3-9 last year and didn't win a single sec game?

Good grief, how many times will this idiotic question be asked?

They wear bad because they switched away from an offense they were recruited to run. Skip to this year and they are back to running said offense. Probably over your head.

That's imbecilic to the point of bombastically retarded. You completely dismiss the Auburn turnaround while you cling feverishly to the notion that we couldn't possibly improve returning to the 4-3. Stop it. You're making yourself look foolish. You say Auburn switched back to their former offense and everything is hunky-dory, but our defense switched back to its' former defense, that's why we are still horrible.
