2006.

They have completely ruined one of the best tracks in NASCAR. The new pavement plus the hard tires make the racing completely obsolete. Whoever got the best restart led and couldn't be passed. Pathetic.

If you thought that was captivating, just wait until next week when there is 600 miles of nothing. They won't even have double file restarts with the contenders to make it exciting for a quarter of a lap then.

it was Snooze fest for me because of Chevy domination (again).

it's not the track anymore, it's the tires. For some reason, they decide to run those rock-hard tires there that have no grip and the guys can't manuver the cars at all, thus very little passing and good racing. If they would give them a softer tire, I think the track is succeptible to side-by-side, good racing. But yes, it was a horrible race.

Even though my favorite driver won and the Busch brothers took themselves out I agree that it was a boring race. But I've come to expect that out of all of the tracks that are longer than a mile. With the way the air works the leader always drives off because of the clean air.

For the 600 are they using smaller fuel cells like they did last year? I agree on the tires they are terrible.

They'll be using the same size fuel cell (18 gallons, I believe) that they have all year next week.

The last 12 laps were definitely a snoozefest.
JJ made quite a run at it on the last lap but it just wouldn't stick once he got to the middle of 3 and 4.

Goodyear really can't win though. The tires are either too hard and slipping everywhere or they're too soft and they're knocking the walls down after they blow a right front.

Usually, I would side with Goodyear on this, Darrell Waltrip says it best when he said, "Goodyear doesn't make bad tires, teams just do bad things to them." I think that's the case when they make too soft a tire... teams put too much camber in the thing and it chews the rubber off and they blow it out. In this case, the tire is simply way too hard and the drivers have no grip whatsoever. Just give them a slightly softer tire, nothing major, just a little and the race would be much, much better.

no no. Kyle took his brother out.

you know you can't catch a break when your brother does something stupid and takes you with him.

i was really pulling for the 70 car.

Did anyone notice the tv shot right after the brothers wrecked ?? They flashed on Rick Hendricks talking to Kyle's crew-chief.

I got the impression he was giving the chief a few choice words about Kyle's impetuous ridiculous driving-passing technique. Sometimes, the faces say it all.

I, also, thought the whole night was a bore. Was glad to see the continued success for RCR. They are re-building their engine power and program.

I hope, Jr. recognizes this and ends up at RCR. They've won the Daytona 500, The AllStar and are finishing great with all their drivers. Even Richard was in the pits for Harvick's win. Just what Jr. needs. I think he will find Childress a true and valuable friend-- just as DE did. I do not care what Jr.'s car number will be -- just get over to RCR.

Note to NASCAR & Fox-Speed:

Knock off some of the ridiculous stupid prolonged pre-race activities, redundant commercials and hoop-la. After a while, it is similar to having root canal surgery. All the phony build-up and then basic nothing. I would actually rather pay a fee to see just the race without the commercials.

note to NASCAR: get rid of the stupid "pity pass", the fan vote to allow another guy into the All-Star Challenge. The fact that Kenny Wallace was out there racing with the best of the best in the all-star event was absurd. I'm all for getting the fans involved in the event, but not that way. Kenny Wallace has NEVER won a race in the Cup series and regularly misses races, there was no reason for him to be in that race. It's time to do away with that stupid little fan vote.

The fan vote is stupid, but the worst move by Nascar was to get rid of the inversion for the final segment.

i liked the inversion, i think they got rid of it mainly because it was kind of confusing for some.

The one rule I do like is when theres a restart they always start side by side and the lap cars have to go to the back. Its a whole lot funner to watch that way.

That's always been a joke. Even the years Martin Truex and Kyle Petty got voted in tot he All Star Race. It was my sincere hope that Kenny would blow an engine in the Nextel Open, nullifying his fan vote win if he did indeed win it, which he did.

even if he did blow an engine, NASCAR would probably have let him bring out the backup car and run. If he couldn't do that, they would go to the guy who got the second-most votes and let him in.

Nah, they said you had to finish on the lead lap in the Open to advance in the event you won the fan vote. Yes, I'd imagine they would go to the guy with the second most votes so they could have someone voted into the race.

The lady that sung God Bless America was real stale. They should have dropped the trap-door on her.

Only person who could EVER sing that song was the late great Kate Smith. Where have they all gone ??
