NASCAR R&D in inspecting the 17 car, the 17 engine is for teardown, the 2, 18, 29, 48, 56, 99 engines are to be run on the dyno. Looks like one from all the big teams, and at least one of each manufacturer.

Wonder if they suspect anything with Kenseth's car?

Isn't it pretty common for NASCAR to take the car or engine of the winner and some other cars for further inspection?

Nascar has modified the rules some from last year. It used to be the top three finishers along with two randoms and the first car out with non-related accident issues (basically a way to screw over S&P teams). However, they've switched it back now. They do still take the winner each week.

For a teardown or a run on the dyno?

I think just teardown, but I'm not positive.

My understanding is they normally do an in car tear down which involves pulling a head and checking displacement, carburetor, manifold and for non-approved parts. I don't believe it is normal to take the engine to the R&D shop. They have on occasion taken engines for dyno testing, but not regularly.

If it were normal, why was it mentioned on twitterr?

I'm not sure about the procedures used during this season, but I'm almost certain this was a weekly thing last year.

Nascar is trying to help chevy out, giving them fords design for their new motor. I'm joking, but you can't be to careful with Nascar's procedures.
