As always, nice read Hat.

Hat, seeing as you have Miami being particularly good this year, is there any team in the ACC who could do just the opposite, having high expectations, only to flame out come February or March?

I'm a bit wary of the hype Georgia Tech is getting. They've got nice individual pieces, but they haven't done anything as a group. I also think Wake will struggle, but I'm not sure anyone expects them to be a real force.

"The past season had to age Andy Kennedy in dog years. Season ending injury piled upon season ending injury and off court controversy combined to turn a promising ‘08-’09 into a college hoops version of a death march."

Not to mention bi#$h slapping middle eastern cab drivers.

I completely agree with your assessment though, Ole Miss could turn some heads in the west. Solid as always.

Great read, keep'em coming. Kinda off topic but how do you see Hopson progressing from year 1 to year 2?

That'll be the most interesting storyline of UT's season. I had a coach tell me when we signed Hopson that "as much as you hated Vincent Yarbrough, you'll hate this kid twice as much." At this point, I have to agree. However, if he finds some toughness and starts using his NBA level athletic ability to attack the rim, he can be one of the 20 or so best players in America. It's up to him.

Hat, I did my grad work at Xavier and now teach at WKU, what is your outlook for these two programs for the upcoming season?

As usual, they're both solid. X will probably finish behind Dayton in the A-10, but they should certianly make the NCAA Tournament. Western looks to be the class of the Sun Belt. I'll be surprised if they don't win the league and make the field of 64.
