it was a wierd draft for the steelers. it was good, but probably not relative to what we've come to expect as steeler fans.

RB, WR 1st two picks. both value picks. and i think i love both of them. Sweed is the question to me. is he just a big name from a big school that wont' do well in the pro's, a la mike williams or dwayne jarret? or is he Plaxico burress part deux in waiting?

Mendenhall i thought would be gone at that point, but i think it's a great pick up for the steelers, who have been searching for a complimentary back for Willie Parker thur f/agency.

i honestly thought they'd of addressed the O line and LB's first and foremost. but as Tomlin said after the draft....you can protect the qb with O Linmen or give him weapons. we know which way they went in this draft, and i'll be watching to see how it works out.......Ben can't spend as much time on his back as he did last year. that much i do know.

word is they were very high on Jerod Mayo, and had he been there, was going to be their first round pick. but they weren't going to trade up to get him. it probably worked out...mendenhall was probably just too good to pass up that late in the round.

the 2nd day ofthe draft wasn't terrible either, but i have no idea who the DE from UCLA is.....Dennis Dixon is an intriguing pick and had me scratching my head at first. but given the Steelers' history for some trickery, i have a feeling they are bringing him in just to see where they can use him on this offense....let's face it, qb is not a position the steelers are hurting at.

we've still got some issues, and i'm still not sold on our O LINe or our aging linebackers..and this year's schedule is so difficult.........man......i don't want to say they gambled with some of this, but it kind of feels like they did.

we'll see how this works out. it wasn't terrible, but i don't think the Steelers addressed all of their needs.

I think the Steelers had a overall OK draft Jake. I think there are teams that did worst. That's interesting that the Steelers was looking at Mayo. Remind me again who Mayo signed with..:p I kid Jake, I kid. Good luck this season.

maybe he's a specialist brought in on passing situations...OLB in a 3-4?

thanks JG.

If I'm remembering correctly, he's the one that sacked Booty and won the USC game for the Bruins.

He fits the mold of LBs you've never heard much on that go on to have a good 3-4 years with the Steelers, earn a big contract from somebody else and then does nothing.

Tony Hills the OT from Texas is a monster. He's a very large man.
good, and he's gonig to have to be able to move around a little to....you think he can be a tackle in the NFL or is he guard bound?
Dixon is the next Randle-El
i liked Randel El just fine, but it's not like he was THAT special.....i'm hoping for a little more out of someone that dynamic.

He'll be a decent tackle and good guard.

Be patient with Dixon. The payoff might be a year or two down the road with him.

agree about Dixon, but the minicamp, they said he moved around pretty well....we'll see how that all develops.
