The 401k containment thread

Man, I really wish our 401k provider would open up some index funds for us. Straight up, no management. I get why they don't.

Here's someone that says there ought to be massive risk pools, and bid out the management.

That's a step too far, imo. But, dang, the finance managers have really put themselves in the catbird's seat on this system, haven't they?

You don't have to use a provider and they have index funds available. You can direct investments.

Safe harbor doesn't change list of available funds.

Almost anything is available and all providers have funds that mirror index stuff. If not, change providers.
