I don’t think this team has played it’s best football yet. Every week the coaching staff and the players find ways to be better. The team that beat Bama Saturday won’t be as good as the one that goes to Athens. And the whole college football landscape should be very afraid of us at our full potential.

Think about it, this team won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against Alabama. 52 points on the #1 defense in the country! I still don't believe it.

Currently Bama is #16 in Total D, allowing only 14 TD this season. 7 of those TDs were scored by the Vols.

were they actually ranked #1 in the coutry? I looked at stats and they are around 10-15 depending on the category this week lol

Just wanted to voice one cautionary note re next season. No matter WHO takes over at QB, there will be some transitional bumps replacing HH and the familiarity he has with the WR corps. You just don’t plug in a replacement for a generational talent like that without some teething troubles. Hopefully we get them ironed out in the first few games before league play.
This of course can be largely alleviated if we can get Milton and Jackson meaningful snap counts as this season winds down.

But our talent level and D should be a lot better by the time that happens

I’ve been preaching this all year. I always watch the game again on Sunday without the emotion and numerous tasty beverages. No one plays a perfect game but we could play a lot better. One issue I see in the secondary and even the penetration in the backfield is bad angles. Really bad angles. No anticipation of where the player will be, not is currently. Need to improve on that.

Oh agreed. I am just remember 1998. After Manning left, still took a few games to get the Offense rolling, even with a talent like Tee. We almost lost to Syracuse. Takes a few games to settle in

And we did not play a down Bama team either. They were at their best with a healthy and rested Heisman Trophy winning quarterback.

That Syracuse team had a pretty good qb playing for them also.😀
