So, 3 months ago I gave my wife so cash to go get her car tuned up ( 2005 Malibu ). Well today I had to use her car because I'm getting a new exhaust on my truck. I was setting at a redlight when I noticed her car was at 2500 Rpms. The light turned green and it missed a little bit. I got home and asked my wife did she take it to the mechanic to get it tuned of course she said no. So I just finished changing the spark plugs oil and both filters.
Needless to say I officially hate Chevys V-6.

Do you guys use mechanics or do most of the work yourself?

While I could do the work myself I typically take it somewhere to get it done. I have better things to do with my off time

I work on my own, but it's something I enjoy.

It all depends on the level of difficulty for me. If I can do it myself then I'm all for it. But if I have to open up the block I usually leave it for the pro's.

Changed my head gasket two years ago, My little cousin but a twig into the block.. I put it back together without knowing she did.

I take it to a mechanic. At this point in life, if I take something apart there's no telling when it will be put back together. If ever.

I miss the simplicity of my 64 Chevy II Nova. Little 250 cid straight 6 with enough room in the engine compartment to move around with access to everything necessary.

I had a 66 Nova. 327/375 hp, 4 speed, bench seats and post windows. It was a sleeper back then.

Are you serious? Those chevy 3.5s are brilliant. I have three cars with them and between them over 520,000 miles wiith hardly any problems. I get over 30 miles to the gallon with all of them and they have plenty of passing power. I've had more trouble with chevy electronics than anything else.
