I ran across an old article (2009) entitled "The All-Time Tennessee Volunteers NFL Team" (see The All-Time Tennessee Volunteers NFL Team | Bleacher Report). The focal point, obviously, is to determine, position-by-position, the best Tennessee players of all time, based strictly on their performance in the NFL. It will be interesting to see if this stirs significant debate or not. It was written before Arian Foster began to rack up 1,500 yard seasons but it can certainly be argued that Foster will soon supplant Beattie Feathers, if he has not already done so, at one running back position.

There isn't much to debate. Considering the source, it is an amazingly accurate rating. The choices would be favorites in any game played. Even the bench choices could play on any team. There was no reach and each position is solid.

I loved it until I got to the end.

I'd have to give the kicker nod to Fuad Reveiz.

How can you not want a kicker named "Fuad?"

I thought Jeff Hall was considered to be our best P.K., Fuad gets props too.

Hall was money within his range. He almost never missed. He also kicked like a golfer hits a lob wedge. The ball went straight up making him very hard to block.

But, he didn't have near the leg that Fuad had.

Didn't notice it was from 2009

"Haynesworth gets bashed for getting hurt a lot and for being a $100 million man, but he's hands down the best defensive tackle in today's NFL. "

How many of you remember the season Fuad had at Tennessee in 1982? He kicked 27-31 FGs, made 20 PATs and scored 101 pts. in an 11-game regular season. Furthermore, he made a 60-yd. FG against Georgia Tech, which remains the longest three-pointer in Tennessee history. He also converted a 55-yd. FG vs. Kentucky, which is tied for 3rd longest in school history. Other 50+ yd. FGs that he nailed included 54 (Memphis State) and 52-yd. efforts (against LSU, Mississippi, and Memphis State, respectively). See p. 25(344) of 2012 Tennessee Football Record Book: Records.

Fuad made a remarkable 8 out of 10 FG attempts of 50 yds. or more in length that season, which remains an NCAA record (see p. 12 of http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/2012/fbs.pdf), as is his 80% pct. on FGs from that distance for a single-season.

Don't get me wrong, I would take a kicker like Fuad in a heartbeat given our current situation;however, people often fail to realize that college football goal posts used to be as wide as a bamer's waistline.
