Well, given that Verma is back now and hoping that he and RVP can stay healthy.. There is a good chance Arsenal can get in the top 4.

I just don't have a lot of faith in Tottenham, Liverpool, and especially NU. If Tottenham lose Modric in January which I think they will, and Liverpool continues their mediocre play which I think they will I don't see them finishing above us. If Walcott, Gervinho, and RVP are a staple at the front for the season Arsenal will score a lot of goals.

Now, it is just hoping that Verma stays healthy and the D tightens up. Plus, it is good seeing Ramsey waking up and loosening up.

Finally, (I know you are regretting asking me now) when Wilshere comes back that will add a whole new dimension to the team, and it's about the same dimension that I see Tottenham losing in January.

Agreed, your chances will increase greatly if RVP is healthy and when wilshere returns

Arsenal could finish 4th with a decent record heading into january, there by able to lure a good player in the transfer period. Easily obtainable at this point, tho not a given the way your defense and GK have been known to play at times imho

But honestly, I don't expect RVP to stay healthy a full season, do u? It's an injury bug that some players just can't seem to get over. In fact, Arsenal has had injuries in general, it will be a while before they are full strength and it may too be late by then

Also, I don't believe theo and gervinho could consistently carry arsenal offensively if and when RVP goes down...or even has a bad run in form

Newcastle is 3rd with 22 pts and are undefeated in league play 1/4 of the way through the season, it's definitely a good base to have to build on

Tottenham is tied for 4th with 19 pts(with a game in hand to chelsea) ...i don't see any reason for modric to leave unless he's just absolutely dying to get away from tottenham. there is not an incentive to leave tottenham, unless it's money he wants

Liverpool is just above arsenal as u know. Their defense has been inconsistent for a while now, but all those new parts are still gelling offensively. They'll need to outscore teams to win...so the jury's still out for me. If you can say all that about wilshere, it's at least 2 or 3 fold with gerrard and liverpool...tho his injury could end up keeping out a while again

what are your guy's thoughts on the US teams talent and the new coach. do we have any chance of beating France? do any of you guys follow Mexican club soccer?

I felt the MLS deserves it's own thread. I know next to nothing about the EPL, La Liga, and Serie A and that's all the other soccer thread seems to discuss.

So RSL advances in the playoffs. In case you missed it, this may be play of the year. It was the difference in the aggregate score:

Since being drafted, Beltran has been the butt of all RSL jokes, but he finally had a nice season this year, and this play was just ridiculous.

i think we have a couple of young players (chandler and agudelo) that show promise...ive yet to see a game with klinsmann tho

france is nothing special right now, but then again neither are we...id say we lose 2-1 tho

can't say i follow mexican anything

I expect LA to crush New York tonight, and was surprised to see Houston beat Philly. That said, I expect a 2-0 result for Union tonight.

As for me, working on getting Timbers season tickets for next season. Unfortunately, the wait list is currently at 6,000 from what I understand.

It was a tough stretch for about two months in the summer there, bookended by two friendlies with Ajax and WBrom going 0-8-1. There were some highlights, the 3-0 win over LA without Jewsbury was awesome. So was clean-sheeting RSL at home early on, I was there for that one. Drawing Seattle at Qwest was neat, too.

Sucks for you, but a great sign for the franchise.

MLS is pretty hit or miss when it comes to games. Some are absolutely joyful to watch. Some are just yawners.

That said, I do try and keep up, at least a little, with MLS, and will probably end up watching the MLS playoffs tonight.

Wouldn't that be huge! As if the Spanish rivalry could get any more top class. Still wish he had gone to Chelsea in the preseason though...

Who do you think Santos goes after with that transfer fee?

The thing with Gerrard is whether or not when and if he does come back, will he be the same player? I always hate seeing a great player pass their prime, but you have to wonder if he is going to be able to make that impact anymore or if he is ever going to get better.

Of course I have no faith in RVP and his health, but I would love to think he could make it a whole season. I think they proved in the Chelsea game that it isn't 100% necessary for him to be scoring the goals, but it is needed. I think he was in poor form up until the last few games so that proves that you were right on the money there. I guess this is one we will just have to sit back and watch.

Newcastle... I don't know.. They have Man City, Man U, and Chelsea all in order at the end of Nov going into Dec. Something tells me their little flirting with the top 4 will go away in a hurry.

Modric will leave Tottenham.. I don't know exactly why he wanted to leave so bad this summer, but maybe it is money. I just think he knows that he won't win with Tottenham, and playing for someone like Chelsea or maybe even a surprise bid from United will lure him away.

Napoli can suck it. I hate their 10 men behind the ball play style and their diving theatrics. As much as I hate City, I hope they put Napoli out.

Ya, it's sad not to see gerrard playing. He's one of the best players in the world, or at least was before his injury. However, I think gerrard would improve liverpool immensely even if he's not the gerrard he used to be. Liverpool's young and still meshing team could use someone with the consistency and leadership gerrard would bring. Plus, think of the nasty combo of gerrard and saurez's playmaking abilities.

I would love chelsea to get modric, but just have a feeling it won't happen...we certainly can pay him if money is the issue, but in the end i think modric staying this summer could lure some interest from another player to tottenham in january (just depends on whether modric wants to be there himself)

I think Newcastle is fully capable of pulling 2 pts out of those 3 games (chelsea and man u's current form are not up to snuff) , but it's not all about the beating the best teams. If they are able to continue to stay competitive in every game and pull points, then they'll be in top 4 contention.

I would much rather see city get put in the europa league, where they belong

is the general interest in MLS growing at all? id like to pick a team and follow but never have yet
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Definitely. If you just look at attendance trends you'll see that interest is improving. I see 3 factors at play:

(1) The start of the explosion in attendance happened when Beckham came. It wasn't all about Beckham, but wherever he visited on the road sold a lot of seats. This is about the same time more and more MLS teams were getting (2) their own stadiums (RSL went from like 14k per game to like 18k with the new stadium) and the MLS got wise and started (3) adding franchises like Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver. Seattle probably sells twice as many tickets as any other franchise.

and they sell out quite regularly too
