The Atlanta Braves Thread

Congratulations! I won't lie - it isn't easy. That doesn't mean that it isn't worth it, or tremendously fulfilling, but it isn't easy. Parenthood tests you in ways that you haven't been tested before.

Thank you my man!

Most worthy things in life aren’t easy, so I don’t expect any different. Luckily we have a strong support group and my project load isn’t heavy at the moment.

I wonder if there is a material difference in this case between how the Braves evaluate one of their own players and how the free agency market views him. Could it be the injury history? The last 2 playoff performances? I know the Braves's MO isn't to spend a ton of money on free agents, but they reportedly went hard after Nola.

He's every bit as good/valuable as Nola, IMO. That exact offer might not get it done with Max, but it could at least be a starting point.

I kinda feel bad for Tampa to be honest.
They finally get a generational talent, they lock him up long term, and then this happens.
I do too. They are kind of an easy team to pull for as a neutral. There's no reason in the world why they should be a successful franchise, yet there always there.

So why did we give up Vaughn? We could have probably taken Sale for essentially free without taking any money for the Red Sox. Especially if you’re gonna rework the deal

So, something I learned after we trades for him.
Go look at his injury history, there's only been one baseball related issue and he had TJS for that. Most of his injuries are freak off the field occurances.
Really? His IL stints have been for a TJS, shoulder inflammation in 2018 twice, elbow inflammation in 2019, a rib stress fracture while throwing BP in 2022, and shoulder problems last year. You'll be able to knock me over with a feather if he stays even reasonably healthy this year, meaning like one 15-day IL stint.

The only non-baseball related things I see were getting pneumonia and COVID in 2020, and a bike accident last year. He's had a ton of baseball-related injuries.
