The pitchers AA traded for Pierce Johnson came back to bite him in the ass last night,I like Grant Holmes and he has done a nice job for this team. But I still am shocked we are in the midst of a 5 game losing streak, not in a playoff spot right now and we are still skipping starts and give a 28 year old rookie long reliever another start. This organization is something else man.
I think the board has told AA to not engage with top tier FAs because there will be no value there. Freddie was always gone once he didn't get extended. Max is gone. They either make this core work, or go in to a rebuild. Anything other than depth and bullpen is not happening. Reinforcements aren't coming. My only hope is when Liberty Media checks the books at the end of October and wonders where that extra playoff revenue went they normally get, they tell AA to get his head out of his ass but I know that's not going to happen.
FWIW the Strider injury does actually matter. Something you should have had a contingency in place for, but if you don’t do anything besides swap the 5th spot for Strider this team is in the division race.
Think of it as Strider at the 5 and Schelly as the extra guy and we are wayyy better. That’s the pointAlso, I would almost argue you're running a 6 man rotation more than filling a 5th spot.
We have pushed guys back and given extra rest a ton this year.
Fried
Sale
Lopez
Charlie
Schwelly
How many times have we actually just run through those 5?
Pretty much every week they're throwing Elder or Vines, Dodd, Winans, Holmes.

It will be very interesting to see what options AA pursues to replace Fried, Minter and Morton in 2025.Yeah, I see what Brown is saying. Because even if the Braves are 11-11 in Strider starts instead of those other guys, they're 3.5 back right now. Still not great but better than what it has been.
Either way, AA's inability to find any sort of answer in the OF and Matt Olson/Orlando Arcia going completely in the tank has sunk this team.
