He's always been kind of an awkward guy in press conferences. It's further highlighted at LSU, where he's even more of a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's court.

He has always put off "Managing Director at a big private equity firm" vibes, which is weird for a college football coach. Especially at LSU.

At LSU in particular, I think a lot of it is cultural. BK is originally from Boston, went to prep school and a small private Catholic college there, got a poli sci degree, and volunteered for Gary Hart's 1988 presidential run. His dad was an alderman. Then he coaches at ND for a long time. He comes off like a politician a lot of the time...as you said, fake. LSU is about as far away from that as you can get.
