Some may say it is Nick Saban but I would say it is Bill Snyder of Kansas State. #1 in the BCS with the last 4 recruiting classes ranked per Rivals 2009-#92, 2010-#63, 2011-#68, 2012-#58. I dont care if he is 70, he is the best coach of college football in the land. He is doing more with less. jmo

He is the best coach in the nation, but we definitely can't have him. A guy like that isn't coaching for money. He's coaching because he loves that university.

Can Bill Snyder's current team compete weekly in the SEC? Just asking. And yes I realize we're not competing very much right now.

No doubt he would leave. I mean he is 73, and he has a stadium named after him, why wouldn't he?

He has a stadium named after him in Kansas and he is lobbying for his son, Sean, to succeed him. He is not going anywhere. But you are correct, he gets more out of his players and talent than most and his players love him.

Not seriously thinking UT would or could hire Bill Snyder. A lot of the talk on here is about UT needing a great recruiter. I think UT needs a FB coach who can get the most out of what he has got regardless of where those players are ranked by the recruiting services not necessarily the best recruiter.

And, apparently, coaching is what Snyder does best.

Here's the ranking of his last four classes. No. 61, No. 112, No. 99 and No. 85.

As said before, no way he leaves where he is.

Snyder is pretty much the reason that program is even still in FBS right now, let alone competing for a national championship. He built that program, and he sure as hell isn't leaving something that took him 20-25 years to build up to that level.

Dang,I THOUGHT I posted stupid s&^%!!!WTF? Just a suggestion to the mods:do you guys think you could set up a test of general football knowledge&IQ? Then allow the top 30% have their own forum that mortards could not post in? While your at it,you could set up a forum for the bottom 15% that people could laugh at? That way serious, intelligent fans would not have to waste their time looking at crap like this. And everyone would enjoy the idiots forum when they needed a laugh. You could have a smartazz d^%=hed forum for guys like me too. Heck this is America though,so we gotta accept the good with the bad. Just kidding around yall. That was just shocking that someone would post something so Go Vols!

Whoa.......simmer down there sparky. The sentence in bold has me wondering the forum in which you would likely be participating. Improper usage of "your" as well as ending the sentence with a preposition. I am kidding as well.:)

If you define "best" in terms of the degree to which a coach has elevated his program, I agree with the original poster. Kansas State has historically been one of the armpits of college football. Snyder initially took over the program in 1989 but didn't turn the corner until 1993, when they went 9-2-1. If you look at all-time records prior to that year, Kansas State was dead last in winning pct. (.37808), with a record of 318-536-40 ( http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1869&end=1992&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct ). What Snyder has done with that program, not once but twice, qualifies as one of the greatest coaching jobs of all-time.

I do wonder, however, if his extremely low recruiting rankings are due in part to the inordinately high percentage of junior college players he has made a habit of signing.

The dude's like 73 and has been at K State longer than a lot of people on this board have been alive...I doubt he's going to leave for another project.
