The Best Team Not To Win the Title

2008 UCLA is my pick. Collison, Westbrook, Shipp, Mbah a Moute, and Love is a phenomenal starting 5. Only one of them was a freshman and only one of them hasn't had an impressive NBA career.

1973-1974 UCLA. In the NCAA semis blew a 10 pt lead late against NC State when a 10pt lead meant something, and a 7 point lead in overtime. Blew a 12 point lead in the last 2 1/2 minutes at ND to end their 88 game win streak (which I hate now that the silly girls team claims the longest streak)

That ND team though reminds me of the 2019 Vols

I'm biased...but in my life, probably the 38-1 UK team. Only 4 games won by less than 8 points. 15 wins by more than 20 points. The domination was unprecedented until that 39th game.

This is probably who'd I'd go with now

The best team doesn't always win it. In fact, it usually doesn't.

It's almost always an elite team on both sides of the ball, but yeah...usually comes down to which teams (and specifically a few key players) are hot at the right time.

UNLV. End of discussion.

Also, I will go to my grave thinking there was a “fix” that night.

The 2014 Kentucky team was billed by many as the best recruiting class in college basketball history. Then they brought most of that class back for a second year and still couldn’t win it all.

Chris Weber calling TO that Michigan didn’t have down by two and lost. They then really lost when NCAA dropped the hammer. Good times.

He traveled before he called that timeout too, so in a way the calling of the TO he didn't have was poetic justice. One of the greatest freeze-ups of all time.

1991 UNLV only had 2 wins under 10, and 6 others under 20, And 26 over 20. Both teams were stupid dominant.

Since we have a thread about the all-time best team to win it all, how about some of the best teams to not win it all?

My top 3 in my lifetime in no particular order:

UNLV '91 (haha)
UNC '84

Duke'99/ UK '97

Who you guys got?
Your top two are far and away the best of the best.
