The Big 12 "One True Champion"

Shenanigans. Just trying to peddle their conference into the playoffs instead of giving Baylor the title due to the head-to-head win.

the defenses of Baylor and TCU have been unimpressive most of the season

If Kansas St. wins then they'll be the true conference champion with the tiebreaker's over TCU & Baylor.

TCU beat KSU.

TCU would be champs unless Iowa State pulled the upset of all upsets next weekend.

I think it's just the conference saying that if "the team having to win their conference is a big determining factor for the playoff selection committee" they'll gladly go ahead and call both teams that so the committee can take whichever one they really want (or both).

Oh I know that, it just makes their "One True Champion" commercials look really stupid now.

So Baylor is going all out for this - Briles starting Petty without a concussion test - the AD hiring a lobbyist --- sure hope they lose bad

So if Kansas State beats Baylor (I don't think they will), will the Big 12 then name KSU an official co-champion?

They're trying to justify the committee's apparent decision to place TCU in the playoff over Baylor even though Baylor is the deserving team.

OOC schedule, most likely.

Along with who Baylor lost to (and how) vs who TCU lost to (and how).

But "settle it on the field" is no longer a thing because of the committee? Then we don't even need a playoff, just let them dicide who's better on paper.

Personally Baylor winning head to head over TCU trumps that TCU had Minnesota instead of Buffalo.

Plus Baylor did lose to West Virginia but TCU only won on a last second FG.

I misread he comment I responded to. I thought it said "I'm trying to justify the committee's apparent decision to place TCU in the playoff over Baylor"

I was answering why it seems / it's felt that way, not arguing one side or another.

Welcome to the mess that is determining things through a rankings system based off of people's opinions.

(It's probably the messiest part of this sport and caused the most issues through the last 2 or so setups, but everyone is dead set on keeping something like it in place.)

Every other sport/contest that i can think of uses head to head as a tie breaker. This is silly.

Minnesota was questionably ranked #25 the week of tOSU and mysteriously kept there after losing...favors both TCU and tOSU.
