So now that the formerly big 12 has lost Colorado, aTm, Nebraska...and looking to soon be an ex-member Missouri, they're obviously going to need to expand their conference in the near future

Where does this conference go? Especially if 12's the goal?

If I were them I'd go after BYU and see if TCU would like to tell the Big East they've chagned their minds.

After that....SMU? I keep hearing that thrown around.

I think they have to look west. Any moderately successful WAC/MWC school.

I agree that TCU and SMU make a lot of sense. The problem is that Texas doesn't want to bring in any more Texas schools. But if I had to guess, I'd say BYU, WVU, Louisville, and TCU.

I keep getting the feeling that no one wants boise....like there's more of a stigma with that school/program than I understand or know about

I know what you mean, they're almost never brought up in these discussions on ESPN or anything and I don't get it. There's gotta be some reason that I just missed somewhere.

Boise wouldn't want it. The prospect of them having to play a decent schedule every year as opposed to the joke of one they play now is not appealing to them.

The Big XII interim commish said something to the effect of selecting schools that are a geographical fit. If that's true, I'm not sure how much of a look Louisville or WVU would really get.

Maybe BYU, Boise, and two of SMU/TCU/Houston are the best fits if that's the case. If TCU honors their Big East deal, then you might put Air Force or Colorado State or maybe even New Mexico on the list.

BSU has been D1 for only 12 seasons (1999). I dont think they'll grab them over programs that have more fb tradition. 12 yrs is a long time but compared to the rest of D1, they're really a one hit wonder. It'll take a bit more seasoning before they're accepted.

Personally I'm rooting for SMU to get an invite. It would be nice to see their hard work getting a football program back pay off.

Small fanbase, poor academics, total lack of competitiveness in everything outside of football.

False. Boise would accept Pac-12 membership in a heartbeat if they could get in, but no major conference will invite them for the reasons listed above. It has nothing to do with Boise or conferences being "skeered" of eachother.

I thought that was the obvious move when Nebraska and Colorado left. Just take in TCU and SMU. Maybe throw in Houston now that A&M is leaving. Oklahoma schools go to the north. Don't know how Texas would feel about that but it would be best for that conference's survival.

I believe Texas is the reason SMU and Houston aren't being mentioned much, because other than TCU they don't want any other Texas schools in.
