Any pool sharks on VolNation?

I've been playing recreationally for about five years now, mostly on bar tables but also on 8 and 9-foot tables at pool halls.

I'm far from "good," but I'm not terrible either. Can make most shots on the table most of the time, but I'm not even close to mastering English and cue ball control.

Thinking about joining a pool league up here in Nashville and playing competitively.

Any of ya'll play a lot or into league play?

Haven't played much lately. It's always fun. Learned a few things from Fast Eddie back in the day. Some may know him as the Knoxville Bear.

Played everyday in Vietnam (billiards is huge there). I still play but don't have enough interest to ever dedicate enough time to become a shark.

Knoxville 5-way-in. late 70's early 80's. Every redneck bar in cocke county 1980 to 1999. Hawks in Morristown 85 to 99.
8 Ball, 9 Ball, Snooker, Pills. Some great adventures. Today I doubt I could walk a ball into a pocket.

We've always had a table out in the garage & I play quite often. My dad & all his brothers are really really good.

I'm decent I guess..I'm better at putting top spin on the cue ball & shaping shots that way. Can't control it using backspin..seems like whenever I try it, I usually mis-hit the ball for some reason. Unless the ball I'm trying to hit is directly in front of the cue ball..but if it's a decently long shot and I try to get backspin on the cue, I usually never make it Lol.

Good to see there's some interest here on VN.

I really love playing pool. Some of my best memories of college are of playing with my buddies for hours and hours late into the night at the pool hall in Murfreesboro. Or playing doubles matches against random drunks at the dive bars near campus.

Definitely ran into a few extremely skilled players during my time at MTSU. One of my favorite memories was playing against a friend and just goofing off after a guy had already placed his quarters on the table to claim the next game against winner.

I was playing like crap because we were joking around, and after I won, the guy said "Ohhh man, looks I get to play the big pool shark over here," in this really condescending voice.

As soon as I broke, I got in the zone and beat his ass handily. He walked away without saying a word.

Haven't played in years but did play league pool 2002-2006. Usually our team placed in the top 3 in the city. ( Fort Smith Arkansas)

Back then I was just above an average player. Guess I should pick the stick back up and see how rusty I am

Love playing pool. Got a guy in Houston, TX to make me a custom cue, and it made me a much better player. I thoroughly enjoy 9-ball, but will play 8-ball or rotation if there is no way around it. I used to be a good one-pocket player, which taught me a ton about how to use english on a ball.

That being said, I haven't played competitive pool in over 10 years. It's similar to riding a bike though, if you have good hand-eye coordination.

I used to play all the time before being married........never played for money except I won a small tournament in Sevierville once. Me and my friends always played 9-ball or cut throat if we had more than 2 playing. I occasionally play when I can get a hall pass. I also still have a Mucci cue I bought back in the day.
