So, I guess the committee thought about this and has a work around.

If you look at the criteria, it's not a G5 team, but the fifth highest ranked conference champion, therefore ND isn't included in that. It's cheap as hell

So disingenuous it's actually funny. I didn't realize it until a couple years into the 4-Team Invitational era but it's amazing how much we just lost the plot with the committee stuff.

Layers upon layers of arbitrary just makes a mess.

Gimme 16 from BCS rankings. Or some fine-tuned version of them. At least it's objective. Not perfect but objective.

It’s a 2 year trial period. I think that’s when the tv contract can renew.

But I’m with dbake: use Some measure of SP+, FPI, Saragin like the BCS use to do and let’s go to 16. We need 8 quarterfinal games at home anyways. One G5 team in, if you win your conference you get a home game.

Doesn’t a field of 16 kill conference championship games, especially in the Power conferences? Why would teams in the mix want an extra game before the playoff first round when there are no byes in the bracket. Any team not in a championship game would get a week off to prepare and those in the games would be looking ahead and might not even play their starters.

I’m I wrong to think a Power 4 conference champ shouldn’t get an automatic bid (ACC, Big 12 specifically)? I think they should have to be ranked in the top 12 to qualify.
