The Braves Thread

Manfred should be fired for the dumb ass pace of play BS and the utter disgrace the replay system is

Dude has to try and lower baseball by 10 minutes but won’t address the fact his relay system is the biggest joke of the four major sports.

Freddie should go up to each pitcher in the bullpen and do this.

Couple turns with a 6 man may make sense for newk and folty if we’re going into October

I thought when Folty came out they put him on the 10 day just to give some time to figure out what they want to do. But yeah I’d move McCarthy to the pen and have him as insurance

Z - help me out here. What’s the deal with Africa by Toto? It’s made some gigantic pop culture revitalization but it’s neither that good of a song nor meaningful in any significant way that I can tell. It’s not even Toto’s best song.. what am I missing of the young whippersnappers?

I have a question about Magic: The Gathering after you’ve answered TB’s question Z!

I’m older than you so I’m even more outta the loop, how has that garbage song become relevant again?

So I know for Detroit Lions fans on Twitter it’s become our victory song after wins. It gained popularity after it played during the first season of Stranger Things and then a couple bands have done some covers that have boosted its popularity (Weezer recently did one).

I’ve seen it quite a bit on Twitter and I was at a piano bar in SD, someone requested it, no one knew a single word to any of the verses but the chorus rolled around and people broke out lighters and started swaying like we were at a vigil.

Now me and my friends all like 80’s music but I feel like 80’s music in general has grown in popularity among my demographic weirdly enough. With all the television shows and movies out there, a lot of them play 80’s music. So a lot of the hits from there are still semi popular

Oh it also appeared on the Member Berries episode of South Park and referenced multiple times throughout the season. I forgot about that too

80's music is mostly terrible and the nostalgic feelings about hair bands and crappy electronic pop music has never made any sense to me. It was bad then, it's worse now.

Haha. There are tons of 80s songs that are wildly popular with my generation but Africa came strongly from out of nowhere and I don’t get it.

I knew this was coming I just wasn't sure who would get to it first, you, Verc or GA. There are plenty of good bands who just happened to be making music during the years from 1980 - 1989 but 99% of what is referred to as "80's music" is garbage.

What you're describing is mostly an aversion to synthesizer pop crap. No decade that gave us REM, Jane's Addiction, Violent Femmes, The Cure, The Smiths, Drivin N Cryin, Guns N Roses, the good version of Van Halen, etc can be bad.
