The Braves Thread

What you're describing is mostly an aversion to synthesizer pop crap. No decade that gave us REM, Jane's Addiction, Violent Femmes, The Cure, The Smiths, Drivin N Cryin, Guns N Roses, the good version of Van Halen, etc can be bad.

Personally never liked REM and think GNR is overrated to me but the rest of those you listed I agree with and they would fall into the category I mentioned of just happened to be making music during that particular decade. One of my favorite bands ever is The Replacements, most of their stuff came out during the decade of the 80s but I don't consider them 80's music, they could have made that at any point in time.

Toto, a-ha, Journey, Men at Work, Cindy Lauper, Bon Jovi, Wham!, Culture Club, Duran Duran, ad infinitum...

That's what I mean when I refer to "80's music" as it's own genre.

80's is a perfectly fine genre. Lots of good music from then, even if many of artists didn't stand the test of time.

Only people who didn’t watch Gwynn hit would think he’s overrated. Similar to people who think LBJ could hold MJ’s jock strap.

Had a way too long drunken conversation last weekend about the best ever Clash song. I strongly argued for Bankrobber or Wrong Em Boyo.

That argument could get intense and entertaining, with all kinds of proxied drunken rage creeping into the discussion.

I still think White Riot, Janie Jones, Train in Vain, and I'm So Bored with the USA are up there.

But you can't really go wrong with any clash song. Joe was very unique.
