The Braves Thread

He sacrificed average/on-base for power that year and wasn't a good hitter at all last year. He hasn't had a good plate approach in a few years now. IMO his hitting has been in decline since 2019.
He’s never going to be on base at 35 percent. Never. He has always had this approach

Which is the maddening part. He is in the company of the rarest of the rare when it comes to hand-eye coordination. A gift. The aspect of hitting that can’t be taught. And yet he struggles mightily at all of the parts of hitting that can be learned.

I think if we went a few weeks and just trusted his hands and natural strength, and toned down the big leg kick to simply getting his foot down he’d improve a lot

How'd he do it from 2017-19 though? He had 2 seasons of .350+ OBP and a .332 OBP overall in 1630 PAs. That isn't a small sample. Since 2021, he's had an OBP of .303. That sucks.

He's capable of changing his approach, and probably needs to hit RH full-time.

His rookie year and a career year? He’s going to be a .300 too .310 OBP

Yeah...I mean, it wasn't like he had a good OBP for the first 50 games of his rookie year and has been a .300 OBP ever since. He had an OBP of .330 for his first 1600 games in the league.

I don't disagree that he's going to be a .300-.310 OBP. He is what he is at this point. The frustrating thing is that I don't think it has to be that way. It isn't like he's incapable of raising that, or he's reaching his max potential.

The man is such a freak. Not sure if we'll ever see anyone like this again

I know a lot of digital ink has been spilled about him, but I still don't think people appreciate (myself included probably) just how ridiculous, in the modern game, it is what he's doing. The stats he's accumulated, when you read them, sound like something silly that someone made up. He's doing stuff that shouldn't even really be possible.

I mean the comments aren't wrong.
I spend the money, go to a game. I want to hang out outside and just enjoy my time. At the prices these games cost, there's no bang for my buck to go if they're going to be over in 15 minutes.

Let's be real. Knowing you, you would complain if the games were 1 hour or 5 hours long. Would also complain about the cost of beer, temperature of the beer, beer brand. The cost of the game, the weather at the stadium

He likes hitting HRs too much to change his approach. Just because he can hit 25-30 doesn’t mean he should. He is what he is, stay healthy so Acuna can keep bustin’ heads as weird as that situation is

Who the **** wants to play baseball in Utah?
I dunno about a Major League team, but BYU's baseball stadium has one of the best views out there

Statements like this should be painted on the outside of every Baseball Writers Association voter’s house when they give it to Judge again.
If Judge didn't break the AL single-season HR record, I wonder if he still would have gotten it. I think a lot of voters, especially the old heads, thought they "had" to vote for him once he hit 62. Which is asinine. If you think Judge is MVP you should still have voted for him if he hit 61, or 60, or 59.
