The Braves Thread

TAMU is trash
They are the most underachieving college football program all-time relative to their resources, and I'm not sure it is remotely close. Just a couple of years ago I would have said UGA but given the extreme amount of winning Kirby has done there, I don't think it is them anymore.

If you knew nothing about college football and you went to Kyle Field for a big game, you'd think they had 25 national titles and were one of the most accomplished programs of all time, if not unquestionably the most accomplished. As an example...they are 16th on the all-time wins list, just behind West Virginia. Their all-time winning % is 25th, just slightly better than Arizona St. UF, which is a Johnny-come-lately program that essentially began in 1990 when Spurrier arrived, is only 19 all-time wins behind A&M. Tennessee has exactly 100 more all-time wins than they do and a much higher winning %.

Their fanbase doesn't necessarily have the most out-of-whack perception of the historical achievements of their program - I think that "honor" belongs to Michigan. A&M fans actually seem to be acutely aware that they are huge underachievers.

Some speculation the highly touted recruited that just decommitted did so because Banks is leaving. any clue on replacement? Feel like they’d just promote Inge.

Maybe Heupel and White throw a bag at Banks to have him stay at Tennessee.

Banks is among the candidates for the head coaching job at Central Michigan per Athlon.

If I’m Banks, I hold out for a much better HC job than Central Michigan. They were paying McElwain less than what Banks is making this year.

I was thinking this myself earlier. It's not that I'm a Banks fan, but what job is worth leaving a cushy coordinator job for thats open? West Virginia maybe?

I think he would be a perfect fit for a school like UCF but it’s much harder to go from coordinator to P4 HC as a DC than an OC

Depends on his definition of “worth”. North Carolina is a pretty good job. Expectations aren’t through the roof, but there’s a great support system and NC has some good high school football so recruiting wouldn’t have to be countrywide.

Main thing I use would be capability of winning a title. I don't think UNC is a place where you're going to consistently get that talent.

You might not at WVU either but with the B12 being so weak making the playoffs shouldn't be that hard.

Imagine giving up 400 passing yards to the Pittsburgh Steelers version of Russell Wilson.. might be time to cast a scrupulous eye towards players accruing phony stats against that bengals defense……
