Baseball will eventually cannibalize itself if a hard cap isn’t imposed. Even if you set it for 2030, I think that’s a fair amount of time for teams to adjust. Ban the BS deferred contracts that skate the system as well. Or count the deferred money w/ the actual playing contact.

When teams can’t keep talent because other teams can pay 40-50 million without consequences it ruins competitiveness. Force a floor and ceiling cap. Keep baseball interesting.

The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians both made the playoffs with payrolls bottom third of the league.

Baseball hasn’t had a repeat champion since 1998-2000. We basically are a quarter decade into the millennium and only two teams have more than 2 World Series. 16 teams have a WS since 2000. 21 teams have made the WS. There need to be tweaks to the system. But there isn’t a parity problem. There isn’t an unfair systems problem. The problem is there are owners who don’t want to be spenders
