That’s true. It’d effectively give you 1 free pass I guess.

The bottom line is that there’s no injury that any medical professional should be able to evaluate effectively in less than the time it takes to run a few plays. Just park injured players until a change of possession or timeout on either side. Seems simple.

He’s arguably the greatest high usage utility player of all time. If we let relievers in, then why not the best utility player? He played 200 games at 4 different positions and played them well. For a five year period he was third in WAR. He won two WS and was MVP of one of them for long losing franchises. I’m not arguing he’s a bonafide. Im just saying he has a stronger case and would be my “deserves more than falling off after one year” vote

You've accidentally, and maybe even from a good place you soft-hearted SOB, landed on one of the silliest (lots of competition) parts of the HOF process... That has completely removed my care for thinking about it at all.

It's a binary choice.

Kind of like inviting someone to a wedding or a party you know they can't attend, but send them one anyway so they don't get offended.

Cliff Lee in particular had a weird career. It feels like he was good enough. You go back and look, and there were a ton of seasons where he was probably best described as a reliable arm.
